the real British public opinion

Post by Col. Crackpot »

Contrary to popular belief support for the Iraq campaign is rising in the UK. Now would someone kindly explain the concept of civil discourse and the anacro-communists, neo-luddites , granola crunchers and militant muslims lining the streets of London?

If that is true, then it isn't surprising. The majority is usually silent, while the minority is what is often found at protests...

The silent majority claim is used by both sides. The anti-war protesters say the majority of the British public is against the war while the Goverment claims the opposite.
I have to tell you something everything I wrote above is a lie.

As happens so often with surveys, what the survey actually says has been distorted by the article:

- 62% of voters believing that the US is generally speaking a force for good, not evil, in the world

This has no bearing on the issue of support for the war.

- The detailed results of the poll show that more people - 43% - say they welcome George Bush's arrival in Britain than the 36% who say they would prefer he did not come.

That could be for various reasons. Including wanting to protest the fuck out of his visit.

Actual, attack on Iraq to remove Hussien was justified is dicey: 41% unjustified to 47% justified. That is *hardly* telling of some huge majority.

The pull out of Iraq question is largely irrelevant- "you break it you buy it" is probably the reasoning behind that one.
Now would someone kindly explain the concept of civil discourse and the anacro-communists, neo-luddites , granola crunchers and militant muslims lining the streets of London?

That is why we must ignore both sides and look at scientific polls.

That is why we must ignore both sides and look at scientific polls.
The problem is with so many polls the credibility of polls themselves is quistenable.

Polls are not that scientific, but they're better than nothing.
