recording your monitor

I'm looking for some kind of program that can take a video recording of your monitor, anything that happens on your monitor, whether it's you moving the mouse back and forth clicking on icons, me using excel, or playing a game. The only thing I've found like it was this feature in a NES emulator that could record me playing the game.

I think you want either SnagIt or Camtasia Studio. Not sure if one is simply better than the other one or if they're for different things, but both can actually capture output from your video (people use it for ripping graphics for MUGEN, the 2D fighting customizable game, from PSX and SNES emulators. Pretty good huh?)
