(OOC)Um, 10 minutes is a great deal of time, hundreds of lightyears of distance.
Besides, the Light Bender was found in unclaimed space between Corneria and Azegart space. Of course, our vessels are patrolling that space as yours are.(/OOC)
The Commonwealth commanding officer frowned with confusion. They were hundreds of lightyears from the nearest Cornerian patrol base, and more to the Cornerian frontier.
"Our order stands, Cornerian vessel. The Commonwealth WILL maintain order in the unclaimed territories. Your ridiculous assertions have no bearing on reality."

The Shasta stopped for a split second somewhere .5ly from its standoff point, its operator alrady having made calculations for a jump out of that spot, two more ly the ship changed directions by doing the same, another five lightyears they agains changed directions into a different part of hyperspaceSea Skimmer wrote:"Oise is tracking the contact captain. FTL turbines coupled." "Then by all means, signal general pursuit, flank speed." Both armed merchant cruisers quickly accelerated past the light speed barrier and began closing up behind Shasta.justifier wrote: **
"Any escape routes operator?"
"In quarter of a second we can be in a position for a half lightyear jump, in two seconds we can be out of here"
"Do it", the captain smiled, thank god for the third dimesion

Unconstrained by the need to replot hyperspace jumps, the HAB warships easily followed. "I wonder what the hell this guy thinks he's going to accomplish, making course change after course change well within our sensor range" remarked Oise's commander.

[ooc] it wasn't a communication from, it was a communication to. By ansible. Which is an unjammable, uninterceptable FTL point to point comm system. which makes it highly unlikely that you managed to get anything. Welcome to occupied Azegart space, Light Bender. This region is under Grand Alliance military control, and it's laws are in effect. Be warned, fighting is still underway in many parts of this sector.
We have already surmised you represent a previously uncontacted power. On behalf of the Three Suns Commonwealth, I bid you welcome. If you are interested in contacting the government of the Three Suns, we can send you star charts, basic information about the galactic situation. If you are looking for a... civilized port of call, head to the Aquarian Union. There is a major Commonwealth provincal capital down there.
Until that time, I, Admiral St. Juste, invite you to my vessel, the Brigid, for dinner and discussion this evening.

Orbit of the world of the Ansapp system, Deep Core
An army group had been wrecked, most units at cadre strength, some even less. Twenty escorts had been destroyed or hulled and would require a tow back to a major fleet yard for rebuilding. But finally Steinmaker was satisfied, even as he looked over the craters in Lion's armor and the torn wreckage of several gun mounts. The Zerg Overmind had been captured and subdued, it now was bent to the will of The Great Leader, the months of boredom, week of preparation and day of action had paid off. Shields would soon be up to protecting the prize. Speaking of which, I wonder if the prize rules cover this sort of thing.
Chambers of The Great Leader
The great Leader reviewed the main points of the message. An unnecessary step given his memory, but he had a few minutes to spare before handing out another medal to a weapons designer.
"[1] Overmind secured and responding to commands
[2] Forces heavily damaged in assault, request enforcements and tugs
[3] Zerg resources and remaining strength minimal, resource imports will be required until they can expand."
Then he wrote out a brief reply. "You have done well. Resources and reinforcements will be enroot shortly. Security will not allow damaged vessels to be returned to home space. See what the Zerg can do with them."

TF3.1 defold at nearly point blank range to the Egalite, with missiles already leaving their tubes, having been passed targeting information while in folddrive, via ansible. The space time distortions overwhelmed some of the Egalite's escorts, destroying them. The point defenses of the Egalite were quickly overwhelmed.

Deep Patrol Manipule Epsilon was rocked by the sudden appearance of the Cornerian fleet, but the shielded vessels were unharmed by the space/time dilation flash.
TF3.1's targetting data had coem from the lone Cornerian patrol vessel's sensors- and the sensors of a single small patrol craft are unlikely to be able to provide accurate targetting information against a Commonwealth patrol manipule with full ECM up.
The opening volley smashed two of the Manipule's destroyers into dust- the vessels, despite armor and shielding on par with an old Imperial vessel of the same class, were unable to take the fire of a Cornerian battle squadron. Two escort frigates and a strike frigate succumbed as well.
The Egalite herself was rocked by explosions, but her shields held- the squadron PD computers had focused on protecting her in particular.
"Leap to Hyperspace, Leftenant! We can't fight this."
The remaining escorts formed around her, another three excort frigates falling apart under fire as the tattered remains of Deep Patrol Manipule Epsilon leapt into hyperspace.

Admiral St. Juste stepped forwards- a shocking figure, six and a half feet tall, rail thin, and with ebon skin. On closer examination, her feet were prehensile. Oddly enough, the rest of the Commonwealth officers present had similar looks, though facial bone structure differed radically.1800 hours.

"Admiral Krocek. What a fortuitous time for you to show up."
"They ran like dogs before the might of four ships of the line. It's a good thing you managed to avoid getting shot up. The cruiser would likely have pulverized you. FLTCOM has sent salvage ships here. They should be here in about an hour. We're going to stay here until they leave. At which point there shouldn't be anything remaining. After that, you and your crew will get some leave time. It's likely that you'll get a commendatio for this. Say, would you mind joining me for lunch?"
"That would be fine, I'll be there in about 20 minutes, sir."
"Very good captain."
The salvage fleet efficently swept all traces of the battle from the area, to be taken to Fleet R&D, where the TSC tech would be analyzed to help search for weaknesses.

The salvage fleet was enroute back. Unfortunately, riding the Energy Grid, was one of the ever-opportunistic Black Alliance groups. "I'm reading a full salvage fleet, topped off with debris. No notable defenders.. We'll go through them like butter."
The pirate ships proceeded to engage in a crash-stop, a maneuver that sent ripples of energy through all dimensions, knocking the salvage fleet into realspace in a rather violent interdiction. The escorts found themselves immediately overwhelmed: A Psychopath class, one of the three, was leading this assault, flanked half a trio of cruisers and two dozen frigates. No ships escaped; three managed to self-destruct. The pods were vacuumed up as well as the ionized freighters and escort craft. The only thing worse than pirates were professional pirates with their own battleships.
The report to the PRC showed simply that a massive energy burst had ripped out of some layer of subspace, and the fleet had disappeared.

The mobile space habitat Solitaire drifted through space slowly, it's lumbering engines struggling to bring it into position over the planet it had chanced upon.
The orb was adequate for supporting human life, unlike the vast majority of newly discovered planets. Thus, it was surprising that no-one had arrived to claim it.
Sensor sweeps of the surface showed no electrical activity, nor of any other signs of intelligent life.
Within hours, scout and analysis teams had dropped to the surface, and had effectively begun the colonisation process.
For the first time in centuries, the Outworlds Alliance had found something that could be a permanent home.

PRESS RELEASE
The Corporate Sector Board of Directors has announced the commencement of reconstruction of the Phoenix system's planetary repulsor array. The rebuilt array is expected to go online within the next several months, providing the capital system of the Corporate Sector with enhanced defensive abilities.
The old array, which was linked to Centerpoint II Station Delta almost 400 years ago, provided the Phoenix System with a last-ditch means of defending itself. However, the Atlantean invasion over 300 years ago eventually broke through Phoenix's system-wide interdiction field, inflicting irreparable damage on Station Delta and destroying two of the system's six planets before they were driven off by reinforcements from the UTRN. Station Delta's last act before being evacuated and self-destructed was to re-locate the remnants of Phoenix to its current location, closer to the UTR's core worlds.
