Plagiarization

What would you do if you found out your professor was plagiarizing material from a 9th grade HS website and making ALL work ALL dittows, and ALL lectures word for word from the site without having permission?

Contact the administration.

EDIT: Wait, is he passing it off as his own material, or does he admit to its source?

Thanks. I tried to contact the dean of history, but the lady said "we cant do anything about her since she has a contract." lol

If a student did that he would be removed.

SHe didnt say anything. We assumed it was her own material, she never gave any review of where it came from. I found it by accident when looking online. Then "bob and I went a hunting'" and found word for word every damn lecture from a 9th grand children's website. Worse yet, it wasn't even an educational site.

If it's that big a deal to you, bring it up to the school board.

Can they do that?

What if it was sexual harrassment. "We know she's been sexually harrassing her students, but she has tenure." I don't think that works. It sounds like they're trying to brush it off.

Probably, what a shitty administration. I dont think they want to go through the trouble of replacing her/and or they cannot replace her. Everyone would just get a AdW. :(

Teachers can get away with near anything unless they kill/rape you.

Lazy teacher, I guess.

And if the administrators don't care, go higher.

Or go public. Send letters to the local papers and T.V. stations detailing the situation. Anonymously, of course, because if you cause any trouble they will make your life hell. About only thing bureaucracies respond to is public pressure.

Plagiarism is illegal. Some cases of it end in court. At the university where I study - if a student is found guilty of plagiarism then he almost automatically fails the course he's taking.

Regarding the contract bull-crap: in my high school I had a case of a history teacher being a total slut, without knowledge, without personality and without any other features that would make her a good teacher. Everyone hated the b*tch. And the school director said she can't do shit because she has signed a contract. Of course she (history teacher) was sacked next year...but then I finished HS so it didnt make much difference for me.

The only thing I can think of - Johonebesus's idea - go public. If not newspapers nad TV (I seriously doubt anyone would be interested) - then maybe put up posters with the info in the school? Anonymously? She shouldn't know who did that and if the hell would broke loose then it would break loose on all classess that she teaches - and that would force some reaction from the school's administration.

Of course if it doesn't bother you so much then you could just ignore it - you know exactly how classess will look like and its a chance for a good grade. A cynical 'Idontcare' approach, but sometimes its good to utilize it.

It's plagiarism, not ... what you said. :)

Or, you could go to the courts and argue this 'professor' owes a duty of care (that being that of the reasonable care, skill and diligence for a professor in their position, prima facie) at common law to the students. Sue.

If you really don't like the teacher, then contact the school provost/dean of students (if this is a college) or the school board/director of schools (if this is in primary or secondary school). Plagarism is quite illegal, and most schools have policies against it.

Question: who plagiarized who? How do you know who has the original material and who is copying?
