FFX-2: Yuna's Magical Hotpants Adventure

Post by Joe »

Well, it's out tomorrow. Figured I'd start a thread for discussion, preemptively.

Since it was first announced, I have invested maybe 40 seconds of interest in this game. At least 30 of those were spent on admiring the costume designs. Most of the rest were spent reading this thread.

Though if I could find a way to verbally combine the phrases 'damnably pointless' and 'whoop-de-do' into one single word, that time of interest could be boosted by as much as 10 or 15 seconds. I just don't see a reason to be bothered enough to care about this game.

I figured I'd get discussion going a bit by making sure one extreme opinion was posted. No need to take your time to make off-topic comments on my posts.

Excluding my obnoxious photoshop images, when do I ever whore for attention? I feel confused. :?

Well the demo's fun. The Job system is a welcome addition, and the effects provide quite a bit of eye-candy (though I still really wish they'd been able to work something summonish in there.. those've always looked cool)

It looks like a good entry into the Final Fantasy games; I'll buy it and master it as usual. I like the return of the job system and I'm not against a girl adventure seeing as these games tend to be male dominated despite plenty of female players. Oh, and Yuna looks great in hot pants.

That said, you really gotta wonder why Square chose to make a sequel out of what was, in my opinion, the weakest entry in the Final Fantasy series. FF X was graphically very good, but the plot wasn't close to some of the others in the series and the lead character was an obnoxious whiny bitch. I just finished replaying FF VII and I reminded myself of howmuch I would have liked to see a sequel to this game instead.

I do hope that this doesn't mark an end to the traditional Final Fantasy as we know it. FF XI will go unplayed by me (I loathe MMORPG's) and FF X-2 looks good, but it isn't going to be a traditional FF adventure, that I can already tell. I pray that FF XII is a return to the roots (as early word indicates it is), because I REALLY don't want to see the Final Fantasy games die. Today there just aren't enough good RPG's released (game developers don't like them, they take too long and are too expensive) and without Final Fantasy, I might have to swear off gaming completely.

I'm guessing that they believed that they could make a ton of money without having to invest alot of time and effort into making a totally new world and characters.
Devolution is quite as natural as evolution, and may be just as pleasing, or even a good deal more pleasing, to God. If the average man is made in God's image, then a man such as Beethoven or Aristotle is plainly superior to God, and so God may be jealous of him, and eager to see his superiority perish with his bodily frame.

It's got some Travolta going on

I've seen videos of the game in action~ intriguing

People had mixed opinions on the soundtrack, but I enjoyed it

A search warrant has been filed and that search is currently taking place. Mr. Jackson has not been charged with any crime. We cannot specifically address the content of the police report as it is confidential information at the present time, however, we can confirm that Mr. Jackson forced the boy to listen to the Howard Stern show and watch the movie Private Parts over and over again."

I have almost reached the regrettable conclusion that the Negro's great stumbling block in his stride toward freedom is not the White Citizen's Counciler or the Ku Klux Klanner, but the white moderate, who is more devoted to "order" than to justice; who constantly says: "I agree with you in the goal you seek, but I cannot agree with your methods of direct action"; who paternalistically believes he can set the timetable for another man's freedom; who lives by a mythical concept of time and who constantly advises the Negro to wait for a "more convenient season."

She's sporting a middle cut top, hot pants and two semi-automatics with that bad attitude look. Do you think she's going to be the damsel in distress this time?

No, neither did I.

Isn't that kind of answering your own question there?

But seriously, they decided to give the direct sequel a try. So why not start with the most recent one?

But they've done that what, 10 times already, and are doing it again (FF XII). Why stop?

Except games such as FF4 and especially 6 were awesome while the stuff being brought out are substandard.~Jason

Chrono Cross was fairly recent and I consider it to be one of the very best titles Square ever produced. Of course, not everyone agrees with me on that...

I liked CC but it wasn't as good as CT. Also, it pissed me off how they basically ignored continuity with CT in some places.

Maybe the team that did the earlier games are different from the one that did the recent games.

I know it's a little off topic, but how so? I thought they were extremely faithful to CT and I didn't notice any obvious contradictions. Can you enlighten me a little?

Sakaguchi is gone, but most of the others are still the same. I think it has more to do with them being tired of the tried and true RPG genre and wanting to branch out a little.

As I recall, it stated that 65 million years prior to the events of Chrono Trigger, humans were basically unevolved apes with primitive brains; however, in Chrono Trigger, we see that this is not the case. Some of them have a tail, but the humans have developed a civilization, albeit a primitive one, and are simply not apes.

Yes, I recall that. That was from the library data files of Chronopolis. Taken in context, a race of humans advanced enough to build sentient machines and travel through time at will might see the Ayla and her bretheren as little more than apes. Anyways, I'm not trying to disagree with you (this is a matter of opinion after all) but those little bits about the reptites and their role in the story were some of the things I liked the most about CC.

Back to the topic, has anyone actually played FF X-2 yet? My copy still hasn't arrived.
