yeah, catholic.

And, today in religion, my teacher was talking about how God killed a whole city of sinners, and told a man and wis wife to walk away and never look back, so when his wife looked back, she was turned into salt. I raised my hand and asked what sense it makes for God to do this, seeing as we are all sinners. She replied "yeah, but not a whole town" and i went on to tell her how that's irrelivant, and It's not right that God can just randomly kill some sinners, but not all, and then she changed the subject. 8)

Great job Alicia!

I want to do this to my American Government teacher a lot. His views (VERY conservative republican christian, although he denies the first two for some reason) tend to be largely different from mine, and I want to call him on some things, mainly his views on homosexuality, but I don't think my grade is good enough right now to afford a disagreement with the teacher.

Hold up--

You shot down her story by saying that we're all sinners, and her answer was, "Yeah, but not a whole town"?!!?!!! :D

Maybe I'm finally abolishing those awful memories of my Catholic upbringing since I don't quite remember for sure, but don't Catholics believe that EVERYONE is a sinner, like, everyone on the planet? Even if you're an exemplary Catholic, you still think on things other than God at some point during the day which is sinful (I don't care what you do for a living--it's not possible to think and do every single thing for Jumpin' Jimminy Christ). So, how in the world would it make a difference if they were 'all in one town' or not, if every single person is a sinner anyway? There would have been billions of villages full of sinners! Why that particular one?

however if you have the nice Jewish & Catholic upbringing <and people wonder why I laugh at family guy so much>, you know there's subtle differences between the two.

First of all the actual crime persay was not that the towns were full of sinners, it was that they were unable to form a "minion" or the 12 people who were observant types. Also note the whole other factor of giving away a slave and one's teenage daughter to be raped to death by a mob just to protect Michael and Uriael <Messenger and Angel of death respectivly> who were in no danger from said mob, was rather fucked up thinking.

Uriel's the angel of light IIRC, i shall just check.

Yup, the fire/light of God is Uriel's description. The angel of death is Gabriel.

Since when can a Norse god be a Christian Archangel? :?

According to the Straight Dope, Azrael is the Angel of Death in Islamic tradition, while Israfel is the Angel of Music and blows the trumpets on Judgement Day.

Gabriel is the angel of revelation as well as death. Azrael sound familiar, he is probably the angel of death in muslim scripture.
