Holy shit, I have to tell my buds, gotta buy off them CD-R!~Jason
I have almost reached the regrettable conclusion that the Negro's great stumbling block in his stride toward freedom is not the White Citizen's Counciler or the Ku Klux Klanner, but the white moderate, who is more devoted to "order" than to justice; who constantly says: "I agree with you in the goal you seek, but I cannot agree with your methods of direct action"; who paternalistically believes he can set the timetable for another man's freedom; who lives by a mythical concept of time and who constantly advises the Negro to wait for a "more convenient season."

Just remember, they're on a spindle so you'll have to buy cases too.

Rebates suck ass. Cheap CDs suck, too (I only buy Japan-sourced Fujifilm CD-Rs and non-spindle Verbatims from retail stores these days).

Judging from the flyer, they look like re-badged Verbatims. I'll be in the area tomorrow anyways so I'll report back on what the actual brand is.

Well, I usually know that Verbatim's non-spindle CD-Rs typically use a quality dye, as do Japan-sourced Fuji CD-Rs. Mitsui is also pretty good.

The dye changes color when 'burned' with a laser. The difference in reflectivity is used to determine what are ones and zeros.

Most CD-Rs that you buy are made with cheap, unstable dye.

Sucker! Unfortunately I've heard that Fujifilm has switched over production of some of their CD-Rs to Taiwan. IIRC only the spindle packs without the fancy graphics are still made in Japan, though where I live they still have the made in Japan 5 & 10 packs. Which reminds me, I should probably go stock up on them before the stores run out of inventory, and then I can horde them and sell them to you for inflated prices. :)

BTW, I swear by Fujifilm CD-Rs, I have about 50 burned data and audio discs and they all work perfectly even though some of them are about 4 years old now. Half my Maxells (thank god I only bought 5) are dead and they're only 3 years old.

Say, do you want it to be a threesome with your wife? Or a foursome with your wife and sister-in-law? I'm up for either. :P

No, Fujifilm has moved over complete production. The only Taiyo Yuden-sourced ones are those still in inventory and those won't last forever. Some places still have them, some don't.

At this rate I'll have to mail-order Taiyo Yudens from online or buy non-spindle Verbatims...

Damn, it's even worse than I was told, complete production huh? Time to go clear out the shelves at my local stores.
*grumbles about cheap outsourcing bastards*

Apparently TY-sourced CD-Rs cost 4X as much as the generic el-cheap CD-Rs. Fujifilm is also going to raise prices by 10-15% in January, too
