a FAIR Survivor Scenario

Post by Solauren »

Scenario:

The planet from pitch black, same resources as in the movie but working
all have the same amount of ammo.

Team Star Wars
General Han Solo (with blaster)
Chewbacca (with Bowcaster)
Katarn as of Dark Force (i.e no Force powers) (with Blaster rifle)
Lando Calrission (with blaster)
Jan Ors (with blaster)
Leia Organa (with blaster, no force powers)
X-3P0 (C-3P0 with assasin droid programming and improved mobility) with blaster rifle
Corran Horn (force powers limited to sensing only, no TK/mind control etc)
Padme (as of Attack of the Clones)

Team Star Trek
Admiral James T Kirk (as of Star Trek TMP, i.e still in the prime of his life)
Captain Jean Luc-Pichard
Commander William T Riker
Commander Ben Sisko (prior to the Prophets helping him out)
Lt. Commander Deanna Troi
Major Kira Nerisy (Cardassian Phaser Rifle)
Lt. Commander Data (Rifle used in First Contact)
Lt Worf (with Phaser, no Battle'h)
Lt Tasha Yar (2 days before her death physically)

all Trek members have TOS shaped phasers with the power of a TNG era Phaser 2

all weapons are considered equal in firepower if of the same size
(i.e the 2 fed phaser rifles = 2 blaster rifles, etc)
X-3P0 is as strong and fast as data
And to avoid it, Q has made the girls unwilling and unable to have sex or pleasure each other.

Goal
Survive the total esclipse. They know it's coming and have 12 hours to prepare. They also know all about the 'things'

Rescue ships:
The Defiant (flown by Jadzia Dax)
The Millenium Falcon (flown by Luke Skywalker)

Oh, and if they both survive the eclipse, Kirk makes a pass at Leia and all hell breaks out as Han and Kirk start pounding on each other

Personally, I dislike the practice of making these scenarios exclusively out of characters with real names. I would simply put a team of stormtroopers on the planet against a team of redshirts.

Everybody dies, thereby preventing anymore of these damn Survivor threads being posted.

The Defiant has transporters and beams everyone up. Team Trek considers it survival. Team Wars considers it death.

Not if there is some naturally occuring rock on the planet which causes <insert technobabble> interference stopping transporters from working.

Rescue ships:
The Defiant (flown by Jadzia Dax)
She beams them up, safe and sound.
The Millenium Falcon (flown by Luke Skywalker)
He comes in with guns blazing the same way he did in Courtship of Princess Leia and picks them up.

Everybody wins!

No one can fire weapons in the face of Kirk, his mojo will draw them into a fist fight. :P

The Falcon simply destroys the Defiant, thus eliminating any chance for accomplishing the objective that the Trek team has.

The scenario is badly written. With 12 whole hours to prepare, the SW team will be long gone before darkness falls, even if the Falcon starts ten thousand light years away. Meanwhile, the ST team will be waiting for Defiant to arrive unless the scenario just happens to start with the Defiant less than 12 light years away.

To bring you up to speed...

A space ship carrying several passengers, including a bounty hunter and a convicted murderer, crash lands on a desert planet. The system has multiple suns with the planet in between, so the sun almost never sets. Periodically, though, the other planets in the system align to create a total eclipse, darkening the planet for a unspecified (but quite long) period of time.

The planet is inhabited by flying predators that spend most of their lives underground. They fly out during the eclipses to hunt (what they live on during the long daylight periods is a mystery) and possibly breed. Regardless, during the "Pitch Black" period, they're extremely aggressive. They range in size from "large bird" to "flying horse". They don't have eyes, but they have excellent hearing and smell. They apparently "see" by echolocation. Their skin will almost immediately start to burn if exposed to bright light, and even a fairly dim light source will keep them at bay. No, they don't make any biological sense.

The crash survivors find an abandoned mining colony with a water pump and a vehicle. Everything seems to be solar powered (big surprise). There's also a shuttle that doesn't have any fuel, but they can rig fuel cylinders from their crashed ship to run it.

I think that's all the relevant stuff.

Thanks Ted C. 8)

This scenario is very easy for the Wars team. Since the distance of the rescue ships are unknown I'll add a condition for my own answer: they're both 12 hrs away (maximum speed) from the planet.

With Luke on the Falcon the answer is obvious: Luke senses (forsees?) the crash, dashes in and gets everyone out.
