Quantom Torps vs. Hypercapable X-Laser Nukes

Post by The Yosemite Bear »

Ok, a brand new startrek ship, encounters a vessel from another reality.

The Hostile ship appears to be based on the concept of the Submarine (Cylendrical, launch tubes in the front, doublle hulled, Armoured (Compressed matter alloy) and ({Plasma Shielded), It can launch Eight missiles that drop into an FTL zone (Simular to SW/SG-1 hyperspace) for a few seconds, and then reemrge close to target detonating a 90mt Xray laser warhead. Which ship has the bigger guns.

Hmm 300 Megaton Shielding on the ST Vessel and 128 Megaton Q-Torps which most can shoot at least 4 a second, I'll go with the ST on this one

OTOH, the 'space submarine' might have a range advantage, allowing it to stand off and batter the shields of the ST warship.

A direct multi-megaton hit will kill pretty much any reasonably-sized ship made of real matter rather than unobtainium. One hit on the sub-ship will kill it easily.

From the other side, 8x90mt directed warheads =720mt yield directed towards the ST ship. The first three blasts will take down the shields and the other five will blast a lot of nice holes through the hull and kill the crew through radiation poisoning. Unless one of the X-ray beams happens to hit something vital (warpcore, antimatter pods, duterium tankage, etc) they're probably not enough to cause the ship to explode. If the sub-ship salvos all eight missiles to arrive simultainously, the Trek ship is toast.

Given the one-kill potentials of each side, the ultimate outcome comes down to luck and crew performance more than anything else.
