So, whatever happened to calling it X-mas? :) Or is that a bad thing for some odd reason?
Perhaps it still has religious connotations, as x is the greek letter for Chi or Christ.
But there are some people who believe that it is "Crossing the Christ out of Christmas", and therefore, blasphemous, usually something told by one kid that goes to Sunday School to another.

Another thing to consider: Christmas is a fairly unimportant Christian holiday, by the admission of any Christian even remotely familiar with basic Christian theology. The case for Christmas essentially being a secular holiday which happens to have religious meaning for certain people is strengethened by the fact that throughout most of Christian history, the holiday was reserved for raucous festivities, rather than the solemn treatment Easter recieved.

They're trying to fix that. Just go into a Catholic church during Christmas mass. The priest will probably be berating everyone for commercializing Christmas and taking away its religious meaning.

Christmas was banned in Puritan New England and Cromwell's England.
