All you need in some sort of method, akin to how refrigeration works, of forcing heat into some sort of heat sink (we know from shielding technology they have ways to store enormous quantities of heat) and then radiate it into space.

Heat would naturally flow from the planet to cold space via radiation. The idea here is to accelerate the process to ensure the planet does not overheat.
You don't get it do you?

How are you going to collect all the waste heat into those heat sinks in the first place? Remember, any movement of heat into a central collector itself will be an expenditure of energy, and as such will create more thermal pollution. Then you need a place to radiate it away, and furthermore, radiate it in a fundamental direction at a certain distance away. If we just dump the heat from the heat sink away, similar as what the refigerator does, we're just going to be dumping the heat back onto the planet again. Even if the heat sink is now stationed in space, which will raise questions as to why we have never seen such a device yet, a portion of the energy released will be redirected back at the planet, which we wouldn't want.

Any environmental study of Coruscant is sufficiant to boggle the mind. And that's without including the so called subterran levels of Coruscant.

Incidently, I"m in favour of "organic" technology being a key factor in managing Coruscant as a city. Think about it.

Some of the most simplest and managable methods to handle Coruscant various problems can be found in organic tech. Sewage control? Let's introduce bacteria and fungi into a central sewage collection point. Atmospheric maintainence in terms of oxygen, waste gases and humidity? A combination of extremely good ventilation vents, as well as just plain simple plants can do wonders.

Sure. But you need to have a temp differential first.

On ships, yeah. Bout the only explanation I can come up with is that they have a massive system of those. And I question that based soley on upkeep and making use it isn't fucked with and environmental grounds.

if they are wasteing so much heat then why do they need orbitating (sp) stations to "beam" heat back down.

No explanation bar insulting the intellegence and writing ability of Stackpole.

IIRC according to Star By Star that body of water is artificial, and build across the rooftops of thousands of buildings. All the worlds' natural water was probably drained away to help fill all the billions of miles of water and sewer pipes the city would have.

It's been awhile since I read SbS, but I think I remember something about Luke and Mara on one of Landos artificial barge/island things in the Western Sea. I think. I'll check later.

Environmental control. There will be unequal regions of space that will be uncommonly hot and another uncommonly cold. Apparently, one of the solution is to use solar mirrors to redistribute heat.

See why it boggles the mind? Sewage constraints, oxygen content, humidity, and all this without extremely visible machinery.
