Hmm only in America all I can say.
No one even raises an eyebrow if a woman breastfeeds a baby here.
I really cannot understand the attitude of some posters on this board.

I just don't like every Christian being equated as some puritan and intolerant Quaker. Heck, I'm Christian, and I see no problem with someone breastfeeding their child, and I'll see that you find most people have the same feeling. Of course it's the vocal minority. But that vocal minority does happen to be Christian in this case. No one was inferring that all Christians feel this way just because the people who feel this way are generally Christians; that would be a logical fallacy. But the origin of the mindset in this case is clearly Christian; do we really need to explain that the Bible is not exactly in favor of sexual freedom or acceptance of the unclothed human body?Nathan F wrote:I just don't like every Christian being equated as some puritan and intolerant Quaker. Burger King is named "Hungry Jacks" in Western Australi due to someone using that name for a company which predates Burger King expanding into Western Australia.

OH MY GOD. THAT KID WILL BE CORRUPTED AND PERVERTED FOR THE REST OF HIS LIFE.if you need to feed your baby in public have a formula bottle or something. what happens if some 5 year old kid walks by and sees it?
Or not.
Jesus, I would much rather see someone breast-feeding their child (even if they're not a pretty sight) than have to listen to a screaming baby. Hmm. Breastfeeding, screaming baby, which is more obtrusive and annoying?
And I completely agree that BK's burgers are far above and beyond the quality of McD's burgers, and while I think McD's has superior fries, it doesn't matter to me because I'd much rather have two sandwiches than a sandwich and fries.

I have no problem with breastfeeding in public, I don't always like looking, but it's their thing.
The only thing needed is a little discretion on their part, no more.

I have almost reached the regrettable conclusion that the Negro's great stumbling block in his stride toward freedom is not the White Citizen's Counciler or the Ku Klux Klanner, but the white moderate, who is more devoted to "order" than to justice; who constantly says: "I agree with you in the goal you seek, but I cannot agree with your methods of direct action"; who paternalistically believes he can set the timetable for another man's freedom; who lives by a mythical concept of time and who constantly advises the Negro to wait for a "more convenient season."

How about this for an idea: if the prudish asshats who don't like to see women breastfeed their children have a problem with it, THEY can leave instead of expecting the women to treat breastfeeding like it's a fucking taboo activity!

not everyone likes the idea of having to see a woman breastfeeding while in public. is it something completely natural? sure. then again so is pissing and taking a shit. does that mean i should be allowed to do that in a public resturaunt with everyone watching?Darth Wong wrote:Of course it's the vocal minority. so what if someone doesn't want to see it in public or think it's acceptable. big fucking deal, it's called having an opinion that's different from yours.

No, it's called "trying to force other people to change their behaviour to suit your opinions". Let's get this straight, asshole: if you try to force women to breastfeed only where you can't see them, then you are not just "having an opinion"; you are trying to shove it down other peoples' throats and make them comply with it. Get it now, dumb-fuck? You are trying to force people to inconvenience themselves for your worthless prudish bullshit never-gotten-laid and never-deserve-to puritanical misogynist dumb-fuck attitudes.so what if someone doesn't want to see it in public or think it's acceptable. big fucking deal, it's called having an opinion that's different from yours.

care to explain exactly how i'm attempting to force anyone to do anything? i stated how i felt on the issue and how i don't think it's something that needs to be seen in public resturaunts. i didn't expect very many would agree with me, that's simply how i feel on the subject. next thing i know i have 5+ people jumping down my throat because i'm supposedly a 'religious fundie' with a closed mind about the subject.
did i say i would attempt to actively prevent someone from breastfeeding in public? no. so stop being a zealot and accept the fact that people have opinions that may not agree with your supposed 'liberal' position.

Not only that, but public restrooms tend to be gross, and not a place you want to have to be unless necessary.

So you think women should voluntarily banish themselves to solitude in order to satisfy your fucked-up value system, just so they can feed their children?Darth_Zod wrote:care to explain exactly how i'm attempting to force anyone to do anything? i stated how i felt on the issue and how i don't think it's something that needs to be seen in public resturaunts.
Here's an alternative idea: I don't think fuckwits like you should be seen in public restaurants if you have a problem with women doing something which is completely within their rights.
I didn't call you a fundie; I called you a misogynistic prudish fuckwit. Do you have any idea how difficult it already is for women to raise children without assholes like you running around screaming that it's rude for them to breastfeed them in public?i didn't expect very many would agree with me, that's simply how i feel on the subject. next thing i know i have 5+ people jumping down my throat because i'm supposedly a 'religious fundie' with a closed mind about the subject.
Of course you have an opinion that disagrees with mine, dumb-fuck. You think I don't know that? The problem is that your opinion is wrong, and if you have a problem with that, then maybe you could try to defend it instead of saying "well, it's just my opinion". Fucking idiot.did i say i would attempt to actively prevent someone from breastfeeding in public? no. so stop being a zealot and accept the fact that people have opinions that may not agree with your supposed 'liberal' position.

calling opinions right or wrong is a logical fallacy. there's no such thing as a right or wrong opinion because they are not facts. and until they become a fact, then there's no way to call them correct or not.
it's like saying someone is wrong about how they felt on a movie or a law. does how they feel on something make them right or wrong at all? no. it simply gives them a different perspective on the same argument.

Incorrect. If you have an opinion that 2+2=5, it is wrong. That is not a fallacy. In this case, you have made the claim that it is wrong, ie- immoral for a woman to breastfeed in public. You have no justification whatsoever for this claim, nor have you even attempted to make one. Nothing is immoral by default; you must show how it harms anyone or anything, and you have not done so.Darth_Zod wrote:calling opinions right or wrong is a logical fallacy. there's no such thing as a right or wrong opinion because they are not facts. and until they become a fact, then there's no way to call them correct or not.
Bullshit. You have made a claim about something which can be argued, and now your only recourse is to fall back on "it's just a subjective opinion". Sorry, but when you state that you think something is bad, then the onus is on you to explain why, and you have not done so. Frankly, we all know that the only reason it's "bad" is that you have serious fucking mental issues.it's like saying someone is wrong about how they felt on a movie or a law. does how they feel on something make them right or wrong at all? no. it simply gives them a different perspective on the same argument.

maybe i didn't explain my last post clearly enough.
an opinion is something that cannot be broken up into right or wrong, until it becomes a fact. so naturally, if someone states that 2+2=5 because it's their opinion, then they are automatically wrong because it is a quantifiable fact, which has already been proven. explain how whether or not being able to breastfeed in public is a quantifiable fact.
i didn't feel there was any need to explain or justify my opinion, as there are no facts involved, besides how i felt on the issue. which was all i was attempting to post in the first place.
