Karma and Dogma

Post by Larz »

I was reading the manga Battle Angel Alita when I began thinking about the quest of Dr. Nova... can one beat their own Karma? Are we able to mold Karma, beat it, trick it, use it to our advantage, understand it, or even if it is real? And does Karma tie in with Dogma. Does ones Dogma dictate which conditions they must fullfill to have good Karma, bad Karma, any Karma?

For those of you who may not know about Karma, it is the belief that every action in ones life affects a future action or outcome for better or worse. Sort of like a universal scorecard of plus's and negatives. Dogma is a code or rules for a belief system (I'm not going to be so blind as to only limit it to relgion, but to anyones belief of life, perhaps Creed- list of beliefs)
"Once again we wanted our heroes to be simple, grizzled everymen with nothing to lose; one foot in the grave, the other wrapped in an American flag and lodged firmly in a terrorist's asshole."

My Karma ran over your Dogma.

Anywho, Karma doesn't exist, anymore than pixies and voodoo magic. Every choice does affect the future, but not the way Karma suggests. You could make a choice that should have very negative Karmic effects, but it could turn out to be the best thing to happen to you. And vice versa.

Ahh...Karma...

Well, I believe in Karma, sometimes...

I am in a really bad Karmic cycle, too...grr....

But Dogma (Creed) dictates the way that your belief system works....and anybody that you ask on Karma will have a different response in terms of Dogma. Some people think it will be x times as good/bad when it is returned to you, some people think y, and stioll more believe z. I just think that it comes back to you in a fitting way and no more, no less.
