I heard that the force was made up of about 5,000 hard-core Baathists.
That's enough for a rather significant guerilla force, but it's hardly unstoppable.

Some of the news reports here suggest that a lot of these gurrila forces are just people who dont like the Americans, its not just Baathists. They found this out by asking Iraqi people, fancy that, eh?
