It's also on the character sheet, but listing it here too would be handy.
Oh btw, I changed my mind about the XP based on skill use. Since roleplaying is its own reward, and everyone's doing a good job anyway, I think we can just give XP based on the number of turns executed. Let me know what you all think.

Everytime I start thinking about it, I keep creating a more and more convolute scheme. I tried simplifying it. How does this sound to everyone?
EDIT
Damn, even my 'simple' scheme looks complicated when applied. I started mentally making more and more rules, thereby complicating it. The more I think about it, simply surviving to the next round is good enough for 1 xp.
But just because I can't let it go, here's a revision:
- + 1 xp for every successful turn. (Here, successful defined as "you didn't die.")
- + 1 xp per turn for unsuccessful use of skill or talent. (Intent not achieved.)
- + ½ xp per turn for every attacking NPC killed or neutralized. (This also applies to NPC 'tails' who are lost or shaken.)
- + ½ xp per turn for successful skill or talent use. (Here, successful defined as "you accomplished your goal, by intent not accident.)
- + ½ xp per turn for accidental success. (Despite lack of skill or talent, PC achieved intended goal.)
- 0 xp awarded when PC is rendered unconscious, for the duration of time PC is unconscious.
- + N xp awarded by GM at the GM's whim.

I like your system CorSec. Thanks for contributing. I'd just like to change it a wee bit:
1. 1 XP per turn in which the character remained alive and conscious
2. 1 XP per turn in which a skill or skills were used unsuccessfully while under pressure, half that if one or more rolls were successful.
3. Any amount of XP whenever I feel like it
The "while under pressure" bit is important. Making spot and awareness checks all the time don't get you anything that way, which is how it should be. Also this way, using multiple actions to net multiple failures for XP purposes don't get you anywhere either.
EDIT: Since going back through the whole official thread would be a pain in the ass, I'll award everyone 30 XP for everything that's happened thus far. From this point on, keeping track (or not keeping track) of XP is everyone's own business. When you decide to spend XP to increase something, send the updated sheet to Gerard. This goes for any other changes, too. Any difference from the sheet that's on bladesandbarmaids.net is not valid.

That's a good change. Now we just need to define "under pressure", eh? I mean, technically, being surrounded by goons who would just as soon squish me as look at me could be considered operating under pressure. But having taken a peek at BB 3.0, I know that's not the case. How about "in immediate peril"? (I'm being an ass - and I can't stop myself. I know we can all easily understand what is meant by "under pressure".)Arthur_Tuxedo wrote:The "while under pressure" bit is important. But seriously, not that I would ever do this, but how do you expect to keep people honest? I'm not casting dispersions on anyone, just saying that given the opportunity, I'd sure as hell cheat to get ahead. Maybe I'm just an asshole, but I'd like to think that there are others out there like me.

What? I earned each of those three thousand, nine hundred and fifty three XP, fair and square.

Adding undeserved amounts that were small enough to not be noticed wouldn't really get you anywhere anyway.Gerard_Paloma wrote:Dammit, you mean I'm actually going to have keep track of my own XP? So, are we just taking a breather for Thanksgiving or what? It's been like 3 days with no posts on the campaign thread.

I really can't do much of anything...
It's not my turn to post really. I am just waiting for Mikal to show up for the drive. I am also trying to update my character sheet.

Well, I've been on, but I can't post again until the next turn. I believe we're still waiting for Utsanomiko, Hotfoot, and Marcao (who is waiting for Hotfoot). So it's really Utsanomiko and Hotfoot that are holding up the works. I guess they're real big on Thanksgiving, and spend 4 days celebrating.Arthur_Tuxedo wrote:So, are we just taking a breather for Thanksgiving or what? I'm going to have to apologize, but factors beyond my control are keeping me from updating and playing as quickly as I'd like. Since I'm currently separated from everyone else, (well, technically I'm supposed to meet with Marcao, but still), feel free to execute the turns without me for the moment, and I'll try to catch up retroactively.
But yeah, thanksgiving and end of semester stuff. Last year the damn semester ended five days before Christmas. This year it's like three weeks. Thrown me off just a bit, plus there's the turkey brain-killing factor. My second mind is off...just a tad.

With the 41 xp I have garnered over the course of this campaign, my Telepathy skill, is going up to 10 skill points.
My attribute for telepathy related stuff is now 19 for future reference.
I am also using the remaining 3xp to bring my leadership skill to 2 skill points... After all, ordering someone around is litle different from telling them their hands are burning.

okay...
I got a question for you guys.
what the hell is a talent in the CP rules? I figure that talents are ranged and education and that is it. Is that right? How much would I pay to get my ranged from 5 to 6? how about from 5 to 7?
what the hell is a major skill?
what the hell is a minor skill?
Sorry, but I am lost about the whole applying experience thing. So I need help.
Also, I thought it was 30 xp for everyone? How did Alyrium get 41?

6+7=13, so 13 points.how about from 5 to 7?
Hotfoot created a handy-dandy excel page that'll help you keep track of such things. Here.
Down the left side of the chart are numbers indicating how many points a given skill has. Across the top are the different tiers of skills (which are found on your character sheet). You simply put in a number for the number of skills that you have at a given level and the sheet tallies how much xp it takes to reach it.
I'm certain I didn't explain that clearly, hopefully you can figure it out by looking at the link to the sheet above.

Re: okay...
Did you read about Talents and such in the third edition Big Book? Because we're not using those. We're still doing Tier 1, 2, and 3 like we always were. So ranged to 6 costs 12, and from 6 to 7 is 14 (so 26 for 5 to 7).
Marcao wrote:I got a question for you guys.
