I wouldn't know what the fuck to do with 4 to 6 weeks of paid vacation

 Ohhhhhh, thats what Europeans mean when they say they are on holiday....

I was wondering how Italians and Germans and Spanish could all have the same holiday.

I had a 5-day weekend (Thursday, Friday, and the next Monday) off at my old school, but at this place, it's four. Still, I'm probably going to have a thanksgiving dinner with my family (although none of my relatives, or even my sister are going to come), watch TV, play video games, and wish that I had a social life.

Granted, as a student in Germany, you have like 6 months "free" time a year. Some exams in that time. but still mostly free :)

Haha, Stamford and Norwalk CT is my local romping ground (I live in Wilton) - thats so funny.

Since today is like a Friday, going out to Stamford tonight, tomorrow relatives from Jersey coming over, then back to work on Friday. Have to work on Saturday too, to make up for not working on Thursday.
Bertie? SirNitram's family lives in Rowayton, CT.

Unfortunately, we don't have the time off or the money to drive the 18 hours up there. Instead, I'm dragging him off to my lil'brother's house in Beckley WV, where my sis-in-law is baking a ham (she despises turkey), and where Nitram will be press-ganged into watching the 6 and 2 yr old nephews. They love him so much, they wear him out within two hours, begging him to play with them.

Me: Nope, that's why I have you around to tell me.
Nitram: You -are- beautiful. Anyone tries to tell you otherwise kill them.

Whoa, SDnet casts a much more far-reaching shadow than I had previously thought. Rowayton is 10 minutes away from me.

I am driving up to Gainsville to see my Ma. And maybe do some gambling on the reservation

no, no, no! Miami must lose and guarantee New England a playoff spot early!

I will get time and a half for working Thanksgiving though. :)
EGADS man why?!

Well at least that.

For me five day because my boss has to go to Texas...and work is rather slow...so I get today to loaf...tomorrow to enjoy Turkey and kick dad's ass in chess for $100, and then Friday-Sunday for myself.
I know loads of people that work over Xmas and the New Year at douible time and that excludes the generous tips. Some people can make well over £500 a week even though they're students doing bar work.
Most people tip VERY generously on Xmas eve. :-)

Oh, it's that time of year. The time when you realize that Christmas is a month a way, and you are still picking the nickles out of your ass so you can buy yourself a soda. You have to worry about this "present" situation. And you know, there's that actually leaving the house and buying something for those that you strangely care about.

But I digress. There's a whole four weeks to worry about that kind of thing.

Thanksgiving is not about the merry times and the gratefulness we share among our families. Oh, no, no. Not in my house. It's the day when you have to starve yourself until dinner (which commences at 3:00 PM, so it really starving yourself?). Dinner consists of one helping of lucious soup and more food that you normally eat in one week. But it's not the dinner's you see on television with all the smiles. It's my grandfather, barking out above my yipping grandmother who knows all the latest gossip of every-single-person in that small neighborhood. And then she goes on in every conversation that usually contains sentences such as: "You just don't understand" or maybe something in Italian. And they all have some sort of argument about something, that goes around and around, and if you're not over 40, you really don't have a brain and you do better to eat your fucking gravy and say nothing. Oh, and let's not forget the extra flavor of my grandmother, scowling at my grandfather and commenting something quite nasty to him.

Ahh, Thanksgiving. The Holiday of Indigestion.

Just be like me and ignore all that nonsense. Watch football.

And Chardok, your man Ricky Goddamn better well do better than three yards per carry. I have every confidence in the Eagles' ability to take out the trash on their own in two weeks, but I'd like the chance to bury the Cowboys two games behind (provided we beat Carolina, of course).

Well, tomorrow Ive been invited to by a friend to eat at his sisters. My dad is moving to England tomorrow, so that means I won't have any family here except for my best friends. Dinner should be a standard mix of American Turkey, with Chinese food to go along with it. Thanksgiving in a Chinese house is kinda cool actually.

Im working on Friday. Id rather not, but I have to take any work I get.
