New Star trek Movie by YOU!

Post by Coalition »

We've been talking about the various Star Trek movies that we have seen (several), liked (few), and enjoyed (maybe 1 or 2?).

Well, what would a Star trek movie be like if you were in charge? I.e. you have control over all the scripts, B&B are spectators, and you have any special effects you want.

Try to think of a movie that anyone would want to see or enjoy. I.e. Trek fans would like it, Star Wars fans would like it, and other people on the street would like it.

What sort of plot would you want, what characters would you use, what ships, etc.

Possible ideas:
1) The breen pirates
2) The Ferengi military
3) The rebuilding Cardassians
4) Tholians and other races that inhabit the universe

Things not allowed:
1) Time Travel
2) crossovers
3) wanton killing of specific characters

I.e. something that would not be a movie:

A 5 minute clip of Wesley Crusher flying a shuttle for Janeway (who was yanked through time for this), and the shuttle is destroyed by an Imperial TIE Defender.

The Romulans starring, in a war with the feds and the Klings. Huge battles, litte moralising. Oh i nearly forgot. The romulans wipe out and sterilise Kronos and Earth.

Since no one else (besides Necron Lord) is willing to put up a plot, I decided to put one up myself. If anyone does review this, can the review include ways to improve it, details of errors, instead of saying 'It stinks', 'rewrite completely', etc.

Sorry... I'm just allergic to Trek enough to make matter's infamous allergy to antimatter look like All Quiet on the Western Front! I did write a Trek story once but it was a BLATANT ripoff of Independence Day... Lata and Happy Fragging!

Better that plot than none.

Okay, I don't know if this is allowed or not (non-series Trek movie) but here's my plot:

Time Period: Late 22nd Century (After Enterprise
Ship: Daedalus-class S.S. Monitor
SFX: Current-technology renditions of visuals that are a cross between current military stuff (for the interiors) and pre-TOS style exteriors, e.g. "Trials & Tribble-ations" style rendering of old ship design, with interiors/computers/etc that are readable, sensible versions of TOS-style)

Plot: The Terran/Romulan War is on, and tensions between Humans and most other species are high, since they haven't seen a Romulan face to face and don't know who to trust. The crew of the Monitor, led by Captain Akira Takeda (I'll think of a better name later, if everybody likes this plot), has been dispatched to the Terra Nova colony after a supply ship discovered the planet's surface has been bombarded from orbit by an unknown attacker. Earth suspects that the Romulans have developed a new warp drive of their own and may now have the ability to strike much closer to Earth -- maybe even Earth itself.

Upon reaching Terra Nova, the Monitor is attacked in orbit... so on.

Without wanting this to turn into ST:Nemesis or The Wrath of Khan, that's about as far as I want to go with it right now, unless you guys want me to write up a fanfic...

That violated so many of the threadmaker's terms I can only assume it was intentional...

EDIT: Now did you like my plot? Or not? If it came out in theaters, would you go see it?

Captain Akira Tanaka: Sho Kosugi
XO Kylie Beck: Shania Twain (hell, pick a good-looking brunette)
Science Officer Scott Cimerron: Antonia Banderas (whatever, pick somebody)
Chief Medical Officer Gene Patrick: (random NOT-BALD guy)
Helmsman Erik Thorsen: short dark-haired guy

You know as well as I do, Bean, that there have been very few exceptions to the rule of unknown actors starring in Trek. I think the only major exception to that rule is Scott Bakula, and Enterprise is starting to shift back in that rule's favor by looking less and less like Trek, even by B&B's rather demented standards...

First of all, I'd start a new arc entirely: a brand new crew of your average, run of the mill ship. Maybe an Akira or a Nebula; something that can do a bit of everything. I'd then move away from morals and the like to a sort of interstellar power game, in which the major powers have all taken an agressive expansionist policy, with some nasty implications.

I'd also make transwarp the new standard, and at least two orders of magnitude faster, so that the scope of the movie wouldn't be limited to a few dozen light years, but would be inclusive of the entire Federation.

Oh yeah, I'd make sure that the movie remained consistent throughout. If quantum torpedoes are supposed to be 70megatons, then that's the damage they'd do, dammit!

Sounds like Trek with a bit of a Clancy twist... not a bad idea.
