46 Iraqi's (of the bad type) dead in ambush
Moderators: Alyrium Denryle, Edi, K. A. Pital
Now they're saying that the US has a serious credibility problem in regards to this battle- simply put, there aren't 54 bodies anywhere to be seen ...

If a bunch of Iraqis attacked an American convoy that was escorted by M3's etc then they would be slaughtered..perhaps Iraqis should read up on the TET offensive?

The BBC showed the Mosque which had supposedly been hit by American fire. The mullah showed a bullet that he said had been fired from an Apache helicopter. What a bullshit. Apaches fire 30 mm shells not solid bullets. The bullet shown was barely as big as a machinegun round.
Then he displayed a circular spiked ring from a hand grenade which he claimed had been thrown by American soldiers. Wow so we are to belive that American infantry were running around in a firefight when they could stay in the safety of their veichles.
The problem is Iraqis wants to believe that everytime something goes wrong the Americans are responsible. It is beyond them that the Iraqi resistence could cause civilian causulties.

Who caused the casualties is irrelivant if the perception is that the Americans did it.evilcat4000 wrote:The BBC showed the Mosque which had supposedly been hit by American fire. It was on an interview with a correspondent for BBC .. or CNN. Why's it so important? Or do you want a link involving the curious dearth of bodies, in which case, here you goStuart Mackey wrote:

Uh huh. You really have to work hard to be this full of shit. In all liklihood, 7 soldiers each saw the same 8 or so people getting killed, and voila.Challenged about what had happened to the bodies, Gen Kimmitt said: "I would suspect that the enemy would have carried them away and brought them back to where their initial base was."

US Military Spokesperson general Mark Kimmit said (according to der Spiegel):
The number of 54 killed attackers is based on first battlefield reports, ergo on estimations by the participating soldiers.
Reports about 25 irakis taken prisoners are:" probably somewhat incorrect"
(All retranslated from german)

go figure eh?According to him, a total of 60 militants, divided into two groups, attacked two convoys escorting new Iraqi currency to banks in the city.
Another four assailants in a BMW attacked a separate engineering convoy.
If the US troops killed 46 and captured 11 of them, only three of the survivors would have been left to pick up the corpses.
On Kimmit's figures the calculus becomes even hazier - with 54 killed, 22 wounded and one captured, 13 militants remain unaccounted for, although both commanders did say the cash convoys also came under attack on their way in and out of the city.
