Has mike (or anyone else for that matter) ever actually stated somethign where trek could actually beat wars in? Anyways, what the heck is the point in debating them? They are sci-fi! They arent real! Thats like saying that the Death Star is feasable.

Oh, and i would think that someone who refuses to find something that trek could beat wars in is a rabid warsie in my opinion. And your always stating that torpedoes are only a few megatons. There are current weapons that have yeilds well above the 20 and 30 megaton range, i have an odd feeling that they would still be using nukes against ships if they yielded more than a quantum or photon torpedo.

I have given numerous reasons why they would use photon torpedoes instead of nuclear warheads, given a choice between two weapons of COMPARABLE yield.

However, your definition of the term "rabid" is clearly flawed. For example, there is really no advantage that American military forces from 1930 would have over American forces from the modern day. are military historians who believe that the modern American army would easily beat the Americans from 1930 considered "rabid modernists?" The same is fairly true with SW vs. ST, except that in the SW vs. ST debate the difference is tens of thousands of years of development, instead of seventy-five years.

Further, I know of not a single "rabid Warsie" who would not give any advantages to ST. The existence of practical, if extremely limited, transporters gives ST some logistical advantages over the Empire, even if they would almost certainly be a non-factor in combat itself. The existence of some weapons, like the TR-116 with the micro-transporter, would likely also be a small advantage, though a laughably small one during an actual battle. And warp drives, while significantly slower than hyperdrives, also provide a few of their own benefits, for example a use in tactical situations, during which ST ships do not have to exit real-space. These can also, of course, be disadvantages, but they also provide significant advantages in some situations.

There can clearly be rabid warsies that grant some advantages to ST, and there are quite clearly rabid Trekkies that can go the other way on some issues, however people who are willing to assert beliefs in violation of all logic and reason fall quite nicely into the realm of being rabid.

Well, you see, this is exactly what i am saying. In star wars, they have some clear advantages over star trek, but star trek has some clear advantages over star wars. I just see no point in debating the two myself, although you might, i just think it is somewhat pointless.

I think everyone here knows (in the online sense) Mike Wong. :)

Another shining example of a rabid Warsie would be Rocketgirl over on SB. She once suggested that Trek fans should be called Trekists because it 'sounds like rapist.'
Worse. She wants a time machine so she can go back in time and kill Gene Roddenberry because ST hurt SW (according to her) even though ST came first...

Yeah. Generally Trolls who take one side or another are allowed to stay at SB because we laugh at them. RG was such a bad troll that she had to be threatened with bans on several occassions just to get her to stop. She even said that with her knowledge she has NOW she would rather be suddenly strapped into the cockpit of an X-wing flying in ANH rather then be in a ST Holodeck. She felt she was a better pilot then anyone else in the movie because she can pilot a jet in simulation.

Everything about that site is so incredibly awful that I am wondering if it is supposed to be some sort of satire!? I mean, really! Anyone who can figure out how to set up images and the like has at least got to have the capacity to recognize the SpellCheck...

...right?

If the Star Trek and Bab5 people don't band together to end this embarassment, then the Empire should offer a quick mercy kill.
Something about Libertarianism always bothered me. Then one day, I realized what it was:
Libertarian philosophy can be boiled down to the phrase, "Work Will Make You Free."

In Libertarianism, there is no Government, so the Bosses are free to exploit the Workers.
In Communism, there is no Government, so the Workers are free to exploit the Bosses.
So in Libertarianism, man exploits man, but in Communism, its the other way around!

I just like how it cuts and pastes ships together, destroying every ship's best attributes in the process.

So dont stereotype us all into the one, 'rabid trekkie' genre, like we dont stereotype all wars fans into the 'rabid warsie' genre.

There are two ships on that site that I can stomach. The modified Intrepid with 4 nacels isn't too bad. The other one appears to be
an unmodified Omega Class Destroyer. The rest are just horrid.

The top one looks like someone went through a Trek junkyard and didn't know when to stop. The one with the Whitestar fron tacked on is a real head shaker bordering on WTF? :?
