What is wrong with Jerry Falwell?

There must be a logical explanation for him! What went wrong in his screwed-up little life?

He is a stupid, hypocritical, lying, manipulative, bigoted bastard and a pathetic excuse for a human being.

If your question is, what made him to be this way, the answer is that he realized that he could manipulate the fundies to his own personal advantage.

Have a very nice day.

He sat down with fred phelps one night in a jacuzzi and they watched each other jack off. This is all just both of them trying to cover it up.

I believe that Phelps thinks Falwell is a "Fag enabling sodomite" or something. Of course, he could just be saying that in denial of a relationship.

You know, you did this in the OT forum too. I will not defend Falwell, but why don't you actually come up with some reasons you don't like him first and then fish for opinions?
They say, "the tree of liberty must be watered with the blood of tyrants and patriots." I suppose it never occurred to them that they are the tyrants, not the patriots. Those weapons are not being used to fight some kind of tyranny; they are bringing them to an event where people are getting together to talk. -Mike Wong

But as far as board culture in general, I do think that young male overaggression is a contributing factor to the general atmosphere of hostility. It's not SOS and the Mess throwing hand grenades all over the forum- Red

Because it looks like he's taken the temperature of the forum and is posting "PLEASE LIKE ME look I'm with you on this." What happened to the noobs that would show up and just contribute to the board?

My theory is that any of them who bothered to lurk are scared to death of looking like an ass. Let's face it, while this board does encourage dissenting opinions, anyone who can't properly defend their point will get their ass handed to them. Not that that's a bad thing. :)

I was never a strong debator and have had my ass handed to me many a night on this board, but you know what, I tended to post in other areas where I am strong like news and poltiics and fanfics. People need to find where their strengths are here. Many folks here are just plain social and don't get involved in any debates, Zaia comes to mind right off the bat.

Contributing to the board just means posting what you like, bantering with people, contributing ideas or even just asking questions. There is a breed of noob that seems DESPERATE for acceptance and wants to become part of the cliques here but I have to tell you, the only way you are going to do that is by posting relevant and interesting topics and contributing to people's threads intelligently and letting TIME go by.

Coming in and going "Boy that God sure is a murdering prick, right fellas?" Will get exactly the reponse it deserves. people seem to want to skip the breaking in time and go right to "One of the guys" mode.

For instance, you [psychosmiley] just posted something relevant that has drawn my attention and I have written this disertation on noobism. Good for you. You're doing it the right way. :D

I mean face it guys, this place, while i is a mecca for intelligent people, it is a living nightmare for people that dont wnow what the fuck they are talking about.

Everyone has their niche. I try to think mine is biology, and sociology, but I learn new things every day. For some it may bbe Star Wars, or Stargate, or military hardware. FOr the n00bs, they are still trying to find that niche, that little area where they can say "look at me, I'm special", so they post stuff like this, to try and fit in, and find a place where their skills can be appreciated.

Falwell is an easy target. The nice church lady down at the end of the street who bakes cookies for the school and tells her kids that all the evil in this world comes from people not following God is a much more difficult target, but equally reprehensible in her own bigoted little way.

RO: *looks at join date* "Lurker" wanting to turn up now?
Not a nice entrance I see.

Who thinks he stayed too long as one? *hands raised*

As for your question, I wouldn't give even a shit about him because I don't know him.

I have almost reached the regrettable conclusion that the Negro's great stumbling block in his stride toward freedom is not the White Citizen's Counciler or the Ku Klux Klanner, but the white moderate, who is more devoted to "order" than to justice; who constantly says: "I agree with you in the goal you seek, but I cannot agree with your methods of direct action"; who paternalistically believes he can set the timetable for another man's freedom; who lives by a mythical concept of time and who constantly advises the Negro to wait for a "more convenient season."

There is a strong desire to fit in on this board at first, even for those who did not lurk. I'm still relatively new here and I remember well that when I first got here, I had a certain desire to fit into the crowd as well.

Now that I've gotten to know most of you it has become easier to just relax and act normal (the fact that you are all sick wackos like me helps) but it takes time and I think that even the worst noob can turn into a useful contributor (Metrion Cascade for example; don't take offense if you read this, I DO respect you despite the fact that we got off to a rocky start). Conversly, some of the people who have been here for awhile still post senseless shit all over the board and contribute nothing useful. I have a lot more tolerance for a noob that is trying to fit in then a troll that has been festering since time began.
