Wow, Shep, nice Red Herring. Read the fucking quote why don't you. I'm well aware that the guy with the football remains perpetually with the president. That quote has nothing to do with that. He's saying that Clinton should have been impeached for losing his fucking nuclear credit card thingy that he kept in his wallet. Let me make this very simple for you guys. YOU HAVE NO FUCKING CLUE HOW THE SYSTEM WORKS IN DETAIL! Neither do I, neither does anyone without the proper clearence. What I do know is that no one would be so stupid to design a system without any backup against losing a fucking credit card. Think about it, would you design such a system?

I give up...I simply give up... I did not know it was possible for a human being to be so incredibly dense as to think that the launch codes for one of the largest nuclear arsenals in the world was just floating around and easy to replace.

Only an idiot would design such a crucial system with a single point of failure that could fail if the President's wallet slips under the couch cushions.

So you expect me to believe that there is NO backup to the card that the president carries with the nuclear go-codes.

The system is to prevent accidental launches, and make sure NO ONE but the pres does it.
It is dependant on the quality of the people using the system, not using the system to cover fuckups!
The system ASSUMES the person using it is reponsible, and vigilant.
Qualities the CINC is SUPPOSED to have.
When it was set up, the idea of accidental launches, or rengade elements trying to launch without proper authorisation, was considered far more likely than the president being derilict in his duty. How times changed.
So much for the idea that the man in charge is allways one of quality.
The burden of the nuclear codes is an atlas like part of being the president. It IS all on your shoulders at that pint.
One that was shirked!
The idea that ANY system is foolproof, comes from one who doesn't know just how ingenious fools can be!

And no, designinging a system with a single point of failrure is NOT a design flaw, but the only POSSIBLE way to keep the nuclear button in ONLY one man's hands.
Think about it.
Accidental launch, global death.
Failure to counterattack.
Loss of country, life on the globe continues.
We though the chance of LOSING was a better one to take, than the chance of human extinction.
We were erring on the side of humanity's fate.
