I just checked, Navy beat Air Force earlier this season. Army is winless. I think this is the first time Navy has won the trophy since the 1980s. I'm actually somewhat glad for them, this will give all the ring knockers in my flight something to cry about.jegs2 wrote:Think Air Force is. Didn't AFA beat both Navy and Army?
The most basic assumption about the world is that it does not contradict itself.
Yeah, I looked at ESPN a couple of minutes ago, and you're right. Navy looks pretty good, and they're actually going to a bowl game.
Meanwhile, I think it's time to scrap the BCS mess and just go with a playoff system, as Division IAA, Division II, and Division III football have done for years. Could leave the bowl games as a consolation (or booby) prize for whoever doesn't make it to the playoffs...

Yikes, but the BCS mess may be headed for the guillotine! USC is ranked #1 in both major polls, while LSU is #2 and Oklahoma is #3. So who is playing in the Sugar Bowl for the National Championship? LSU and Oklahoma!
This one doesn't pass the "common sense" check, and the BCS needs to be scrapped. We've a possible Splt National Title on our hands if USC wins in the Rose Bowl...

LSU has to be in the nat'l championship game. It will go down as one of the biggest screwovers in history if they aren't.

I'm studying for the CPA exam. Have a nice summer, and if you're down just sit back and realize that Joe is off somewhere, doing much worse than you are.

This a damned stain on the BCS. split national titles are one of two things this whole system was designed to get rid of in the firt place, the other? A DAMN NO. 1 VS. NO 2 TITLE GAME.
Oklahoma, a team that didn't even win their conference, a team that just got completely derailed prior to the end of the regular season. They're going to play for the national title.
Sound Familiar? Well it should, A team full of Nebraska Cornhuskers about 3 years ago had their asses handed to them by Colorado, then went on to play Miami in one of the least competitive national title games i've ever seen.
maybe some good can come out of this, USC will win the AP title and LSU or Oklahoma can win that BCS national championship, if Oklahoma does win im sure there will be a few Kansas State fans eager to remind them of who was the Bgi 12 Champion, and he'll they'll probably print up National Championship shirts of their own.
Here's my plan to fix college football and immortalize me forever as long as there is saturday pigskin. Use the four Major Bowls plus the Cotton bowl,

Im awesome, Im also a Trojans fan, Im not nearly as enraged as ther people out here either, who are demanding at the very least a nationally televised exhibition game should the title be split.Seeds 1 and 2 get a bye.
3 vs. 6
4 vs. 5
--------
1 vs 4/5
2 vs 3/6

title game

use the Four Major Bowls plus the Cotton Bowl, rotate their positions every year as to which one be the national title and which one be the first round and such. If one even so desired, they could affix the traditional matchups to each bowl as well, but I thinkthe seeding would be better.

or scale back the non conference part of the season, because Teams like Nebraska and Texas feel obligated to schedule a patsy game like middle western south wymoing east technical state tech A&M so that the boosters will feel all good and cocksucked. Conference title games are worth a lot more to teams than those.Durran Korr wrote:I'm all for a playoffs system, but we'd have to get rid of the Conference Championship games in that case.

And it's LSU and OU, just announced on ABC.
FSU-Miami at Orange, what the fuck?!?!?!
K. State-OSU at Fiesta, love the fact that Texas got bumped down!
I guess that means USC-Michigan at the Rose.
Also, looks like UGA-Purdue at the Citrus...confirmed. Thank God, did not want to end up in the Peach Bowl. Tennessee really got screwed, though, they should be in the Outback Bowl with those fucking crocs in the Peach.

Well, it's official; with USC not playing in the Sugar Bowl and a team that lost it's conference championship game soundly taking its place, the BCS is officially retarded.

Nope, I'm in the band so from 7:30 AM - 12:30 PM I was at the Georgia Dome, occupied. I'd definitely rather have Tiger fans around than Gator fans, though that may be because I'm a Georgia fan, and Georgia, from what I know, has the unique distinction of being probably the only major SEC contender not hated by LSU...Captain Lennox wrote:Wierd shit I was expecting USC-LSU, but at any rate go LSU! This is a little outside of the current BCS thread so I thought I'd ask here.
My question has to do with Oklahoma.
I was wondering what people thought contributed to the team's ass whippin' by KState this weekend? I didn't see the game so I don't have an opinion on how well KState played and how well prepapred the coaches were.
It's just that the week before the game everyone had been saying that Oklahoma would make the BCS championship game even if they lost. That can't be a good motivater. Plus, at least two of Oklahoma's coaches already made plans to leave after the Big-12 title game and take over the job at Arizona. I just wonder how much of a distraction the various things might have been to the team.
Plus there's been ego strokin' comments about OU and Bobby Stoops for most of the season but it just seem odd to me that a team that could be so dominant for so much of the season could get it's ass handed to it the way OU did. I am kind of happy for K State because they've always been accused of not being able to win the "big game" (plus Bruce Snyder also used to be an Iowa assistant).

the reason OU lost is simple, Sproles and Roberson. Once those guys led the KSU offense to take the lead (combined with a couple great special teams plays) Oklahoma lost the lead and imediately got desperate. Like the announcers were saying Oklahoma (before the KSU game) played nearly 800 minutes of football and were only behind for six minutes total. OU's offense isn't designed to do the things the were trying to do once the cats went up by 7, then 14, and in the second half things just got worse when they got even more desperate, making it easier for KSU's defense to put their nuts in a vicegrip.
