Silly Repubs...
The Republicans' latest avenue of attack on Howard Dean appears to be to accuse him of being intellectually weak.
One is not wise to attack the intellectual depth of one's opponent when one's own standard-bearer was once outwitted by a not-particularly-wily pretzel.

I can't tell whether or not the thread title is intentional. Could it be possible to make a Freudian slip while typing? Hmm...
In any case, to whom or what are you referring? There was a George Will column earlier that made the criticism (rather poorly, I might add) but I haven't seen anything else.
His recent stint on Hardball was rather unimpressive, however.

I was reading FR and they had an article about libertarians voting for Dean, and one floridian Freeper said he was going to vote Dean in '04, and then the rest of them were like "move out of florida" and similar
Iceberg, the thread title is very, very bad manner and I don't think we would appreciate it if one of the VRWC posted something with "demoncrats" and "lieberals" in the title

Bush vs Dean in a televised debate would be quite interesting. On one hand you have Bush, who has the public speaking skills equal to those kids on the Hooked on Phonics commercials. Dean on the other hand seems quite able to articulate his ideas clearly and concisely. Assuming he gets the nomination, this will be an advantage he would we wise to take advantage of.
The most basic assumption about the world is that it does not contradict itself.
Bush will do fine during the "debates," though it will be interesting to see how he will respond to Dean, who's quite different from Al Gore. Cheney should also do well in the VP debate (he won the Cheney-Lieberman debate in 2000, hands down).

Cheney will win, because he is an evil genius.Durran Korr wrote:Bush will do fine during the "debates," though it will be interesting to see how he will respond to Dean, who's quite different from Al Gore. Bush will do well if his staff anticipates the angle of attack. Also, if Dean's the man to beat, then it's possible he'll push too hard and end up looking like an asshole (like how Gore looked as if he couldn't believe he had to debate that monkey-looking idiot... remember how badly that went for him )

Yeah, Al Gore's performance during the first debate was so bad his staffers showed him the SNL parody to give him an idea of what it sounded like to everyone.

Another thing about Dean is that whole "break up News and GE" business. I just sat there dumbfounded when I read about it.

Whoooooa there. The Democrats have been accuzing the President of being stupid for a long long while. And your evidence of his lack of intelligence is him choking on a pretzel? We don't really need to quote all of the accumulated Bushisms again, do we? Or the fact that in his youth, in university, at the peak of his biological reasoning powers, he was still stupid enough to become a fucking cokehead and get arrested for DUI as well as other sundry offenses including petty vandalism? How does his biography or demeanour say anything but "moron" to you?
PS. George Bush took liberal-arts courses at Yale and was a solid C student. Oh yeah, the intellectual superiority is obvious

Libertarians voting for Dean?? Won't they be more inclined to vote for the American Libertarian Party, or is the "Anyone But Bush" mentality also found among the disciples of Adam Smith??Hamel wrote:I was reading FR and they had an article about libertarians voting for Dean, and one floridian Freeper said he was going to vote Dean in '04, and then the rest of them were like "move out of florida" and similar

"Anybody but Bush Again" is becoming a strong meme of the coming year's election, and I doubt even a roaring recovery will put much of a damper on it, because Bush's folksy facade is becoming increasingly obvious as being exactly that, and if the American people hate anything above all else, it's somebody who's obviously fake.Simon H.Johansen wrote:Libertarians voting for Dean?? Non-interventionist foreign policy is the key issue for many extreme libertarians. They're going to disapprove of Bush's foreign policy just as much as the most rabid leftist. Voting for Dean because of this may not be a good idea, however, as he supported a Liberia intervention.Simon H.Johansen wrote:Libertarians voting for Dean?? Dean will never be elected President. He's too liberal. The Democrats would do way better with a more moderate candidate that attacks Bush on fiscal policy.
