Main guns are likely single to low double digit MT, side guns double to low triple KT.

I suppose GCS could pull a win, but it would ahve a better chance agaisnt other ships. One would own a lancer, and I can think of a few others it could do good against

Aside from this, this assumes that the Galaxy can maneuver into position to fire on whatever arc is weakest (assuming there is a weak arc), assumes that the E-D has enough firepower to make use of it, and assumes that the E-D even knows the nature of the Corvette's shielding.
This is the 'fires first' scenario, which Starfleet rules of engagement make unlikely.

You know, the sad thing is I once subscribed to this way of thinking. I though an ISD may outgun a Galaxy class by virtue of shielding and weaponry power, but the GCS could focus on a single point, overwhelm the shielding at that point and beam a torpedo into the ship, thus crippling or destroying it. While this might be possible, it's highly unlikely and more of a special circumstances situation(which isn't a logical comparison).

Now now, there's no reason to hate Trek over a few zeros that it doesn't have!

The Lancers shields could prove tough for the GCS.
I have to tell you something everything I wrote above is a lie.

But a Lancer is armed exclusively with anti-starfighter weaponry. Dennia quad guns, wasn't it?

True, but they're still kiloton range at least and they have a lot of them with a pretty fast refire rate. In short, even a GCS will have trouble with a Lancer.

I beg to differ. A TIE has no shields. It would fly apart, unless you can tell me that TIE hull armor is infinitely superior to anything known in Trek. And it would have to be pretty damned superior.

Darthdavid was referring to the TIE-Defender, which is fully shielded and had a hyperdrive, ion cannons and warhead launchers. Play the TIE-Fighter computer game for more info.

I thought Tie Defenders were equipped with shields? Or am I confusing them with the Tie Advanced?

Oh, Defender. Yeah, it would win. I was thinking of the TIE/D, the droid TIE, which would not.

In ANH, the ISDs were trying to /Kill/ the Falcon as it left Tatooine.

The Falcon nearly lost it's shields to the ISD cannon fire.

TIEs significantly impacted the shields levels of the Falocn as it left the DS

It makes no sense to pit Kt level TIEs against a light freighter if it can resist MT range weaponry.

Hence, TIEs have MT range weapons :)

Pre-ICS, I had a Corvette estimate that had (4) 100 Mt/s LTLs and (4) 50 MT/s heavy lasers (alternately, Quad Anti fighter lasers in the High KT range). Total 600 MT/s. Military spec Corvettes have 6 double TLs.

Alternately, its quite possible that capital ship had KT range guns ( like the antifighter guns on the TradeFed core ship. Or, its possible the TIEs were trying to catch the Millenium Falcon with weakened shields or no shields in place in certin areas - I believe they were angling them during the escape form the Death Star.

Like they were trying to kill the Tantive IV. I think not. Vader still wanted to get the plans intact, so he wanted to make sure he's got it. Blowing up a suspect ship wouldn't do that.

The point is that SW fighter vs ST capital ship discussion are not really allowed, because they tend to go on forever and reach no conclusion.

I was under the impression that the big phaser banks on a GCS were about the equivalent of a LTL (5 mt about). With torpedoes, that would give it about the same firepower as the corvette if not a little more. 'Course, the corvette's shields are stronger.

<evil>

Did anyone define the CRV yet?

Is it a Mil-spec with 6 Twin mount LTLs?
or a Rebel Civ-spec Blockade Runner with 2 LTL twins and 4 heavy lasers?

</evil>

The military CRV has 2 fore TL twins in the hammerhead section, and 2 more Twins situated on top and bottom of the engine section.
