A female period

Post by PainRack »

A snide remark to Misty in SB prompted this question into my head.

1. Do you notice a difference in a girl, specifically, those age between 15-25 during her period?

2. What are the tripwires that will set off her mood swings?

3. What will appease her?

Yes.
2. What are the tripwires that will set off her mood swings?
Anything that might possibly have her irked at the moment, completely unpredictable
3. What will appease her?
Nothing other than time.

Best thing is to just give her her space until it's over...

Now, I'm extremely dense and insenitive to female emotions. I don't have many, infact, I like to say I have no female friends at all. However, considering my rather abrasive nature, why is it that I have never encountered this? I was wondering whether it was because of age, as we were all 17-19 types.........

2. What are the tripwires that will set off her mood swings?
everything
3. What will appease her?
time, there realy is nothing you can do, trying to appease them makes them more annoyed.
in my experience anyway.

Female POV:

1. Yes, we change. It's a hormone thing. Some get slutty, some get pissy, some get angry, some get weepy. Some get all of these, at once.

2. Everything. Look at us wrong. TV Commercials.

3. CHOCOLATE. Long hot baths, too.. and cuddling.

That's okay.. I like to talk about enemas at the dinner table but that still gets my ass grabbed :-) You must be doing something else not to have female friends.. like maybe peeping on them in the shower and getting caught.

The 17-19 age is what I like to call the "High School" girl phase. Maybe in Singapore it's different.. but at that age most girls are in a very stereotypical mindset (disclaimer: I said most, not all). TV actually stereotyped girls correctly.

When they're on their period.. tread softly.. find out when they're on their cycles.. mark them and be careful the surrounding weeks. They can become irritable, mad, angry and just plain bitchy. Like some comment that you could've gotten away with will end up in a brawl.

Only after her period has passed can you begin the appeasement process (or when she wants something from you).. in short.. you can be a jerk.. you just have to learn when to be a jerk and how far of a jerk you can be.

I don't remember my sister or my mom ever changing in mood or character. All I knew is that they have severly bad cramps during their periods (from what I heard, more severe than normal).

I guess they were immune to you annoying them then ;-)

But for the most part, girls are very sensitive during their period.. I can't get away with my usual feminist bashing sexist behavior then :-\

Oh, we really didn't annoy them then. We knew that the pains they were experiancing were frustrating on their own, so we just left them alone, which was pretty easy, since I think they didn't do much on those days.

*looks at title, wonders what a male period is*

Hmm... I never noticed much of a PMS change, but I'm stroppy anyway.

In fact, don't ask me, I'm fucked up, hormone-wise.

I think women can unpredictably turn into arseholes irrespective of periods. But then, so do blokes.

*shrug*

But by that same token, I have never once in my life asked any lass I know if she's on her period. Not only is it rude, it's also something I really don't want to know.

Oh hell yeah. I mean some times its a bit more subdued but you can tell when the mood swings just come TOO fast. I mean there are moody folks out there (men and women) but a girl who is on her period flips the switch so fast that you can't mistake it for anything else.
2. What are the tripwires that will set off her mood swings?
Any and everything. You really have to be cautious because, while several girls I've known try their best not to overreact, if you say one thing too many its usually enough to trhow that switch. Now agian most girls I've known tend to try and tone themselves down but ti takes a lto fo self restraint and if you do more than lightly poke the edges of it you will feel the wrath.
3. What will appease her?
Sex...no seriously. While she may not be up for it at first if you do it regularly she will come to find that sex during a woman's period actually hastens the process AND relieves a lot of the chemical imbalances. In other words sex is actually the best medicine for hormonal problems (it apparently stimulates the release of better hormones :D ).

Yes, surprisingly, this helps. I don't know why, but it does.

i always thought that the period was the height of the female fertility cycle anyways... its hardly surprising sex helps alleviate it.

It's more of the clean up, getting rid of the unfertilized egg before it festers and does nasty things inside the womb.

The height is ovulation, whichalmost uniquely in huimans, doesn't coincide with menses. (Natural Selection working against early users of the timing contraception?)

I can't with the only female friend I'm close enough with to notice a change in behavior, although last time she did she told me she gets really strong cravings for specific foods to which she added "Like right now I could really go for a pickle." She didn't seem to get too upset when I made fun of her for that remark.

Same here except that with my sister... let me give you a picture of her attitude. If all of the women of the world were to have their period at the same time. Multiply it by a factor of ten and that attitude never ends and that would explain my sister.

Yes. There's blood coming out.

Everything that normally sets of mood swings, but at heightened sensitivity.
3. What will appease her?
The term "appease" is inappropriate. It implies that she becomes an angry bitch, which is not always the case with every female. In some cases, the terms "placate" or "comfort" may be more appropriate. And I suspect that the remedy varies from woman to woman.
