A letter from Iraq.

Post by phongn »

On another board I (and some others here) frequent, one of the administrators is currently deployed to Iraq. She's a colonel in the Royal Thai Army, what's she's doing there I have no idea. However, she recently sent back a letter describing some of her experiences there.

Another board administrator requested that the letter not be reposted on other boards, but linked to, so here it is: Linkage.

So she's saying that Iraq is, and has been, a factionalized shithole of shitholes and who knows what it'll take to bring the country up to speed?
"Right now we can tell you a report was filed by the family of a 12 year old boy yesterday afternoon alleging Mr. Michael Jackson of criminal activity. A search warrant has been filed and that search is currently taking place. Mr. Jackson has not been charged with any crime. We cannot specifically address the content of the police report as it is confidential information at the present time, however, we can confirm that Mr. Jackson forced the boy to listen to the Howard Stern show and watch the movie Private Parts over and over again."

I really, really liked this quote:
Nations do not survive by setting examples for others.
Nations survive by making examples of others.
