What makes you think he won't do that anyhow? He's been sniping at Mike from obscure vs boards for months or years now. All he needs is an obscure little niche where logic does not reach easily and he'll pretend he knows what he's talking about.

Mike, given what he has said online and taken credit for, and his claims at training and military crap (crap since he's obviously not military, of if he is, they are getting desperate for recruits), you have more then enough to go to the OPP for threatening your kids and wife and yourself with physical violence.

The funniest thing about all this is that it was all instigated by HIM. He did the trash-talking, he pulled the bravado bullshit, he pumped his ego for all it was worth... and when someone FINALLY came crashing down on the buzzing insect, he collapsed like a house of cards.

I bet he spends half an hour every night cursing Wong and Those Damn Warsies. It's probably the only thing that makes him feel better... either that, or ranting with his little faux-friends in his LJ.

I imagine he hasn't seen this thread and thinks that all we have to on is someone's word that they saw it up at his LiveJournal. It's good that he is apologizing (even half-assed), but I wonder if it has more to do with the threats of reprisals more then actually being sorry. Still, this is more then I expected from the likes of him. I guess its true that all bullies back down when under pressure.

He apologized. It appears that even his own LiveJournal friends realized he was off his rocker and told him to back off.

Irregardless of getting your supporters to e-mail me, I've already had people on this end tell me that I've become far too angry in our debate, reacting to previous mail that you had tapered down on, in recent weeks.

Cutting to the crux of the issue, I'm listening to the people on this end, as well as Bonehead, and offering you a formal apology, which you can do whatever you wish with. I do realize that I got far too angry with your own remarks, and allowed personal anger to carry me away, far too quickly and easily, so, once again, from one professional to another, I do offer my sincere apology, and promise never to get so irate in the future. If you wish to disallow further contact, that's fine. If you wish to contine the debate at this point, that is fine with me, as well.

I do not see the offering of a formal apology as a capitulation of any sort, for any reason, just as something that a mature man should do when he realizes that he's wrong.

I don't know what he means when he says he's not capitulating even though he admits he's wrong, but I'd say that the moderate approach that you guys used (particularly Connor, Brian Young, Rogue 9) was probably more effective in getting him to see the error of his ways than a more confrontational approach would have been.

I was all set to take this to the next level, but I'm willing to accept an apology.

Indeed. I got no response from him, but I told him, in as polite a way as you can say such a thing, that threatening children is a cowardly and low thing to do. *Shrug.* Maybe it worked, maybe he's just giving it up. I suspect we'll find out.

I think he means that he isn't capitulating on the debate itself (although I don't know why you would bother to finish with him at this point).

His apology seems fairly reasonable and I'm glad that you didn't have to push this any further. I for one got no enjoyment out of this debacle the minute it went beyond a flamewar. It's good to see that Virus-X may have actually learned something about human interaction with all of this and I'm also glad to see that other members of this board decided not to stoop to his level but instead sent modestly polite emails on your behalf.

Bravo everyone. This is a perfect example of how to solve a conflict intelligently.

As far as continuing a vs. debate with him, I'd have to advise against it. I'm no shrink, but after reading all the stuff Adam dug up, I think it's clear Virus is mentally disturbed. At the very least I'd say he's manic-depressive.

Trying to conduct a debate with such a person, who's calm one minute, then screaming threats the next, is futile. I'd also say he's gotten a resounding-enough whipping that he'll think twice before sniping at you again, so beating him in a round 2 and 3 wouldn't serve much purpose.

Oh, and the guy didn't e-mail me back yet. Maybe I'm the Bonehead he's talking about?

Who is this "bonehead" he keeps referring to? If its me or Brian, I am going to get very pissed, because Brian is my friend and I was incredibly polite to him.

I disagree. While the whole threat thing against his family may be settled, there is the fact this guy has and still is trash-talking Mike himself, dragging out if not dodging a debate (Very much like Andrew-Joshua Tallon - for someone who acts like he has already crushed Mike's debates before, he's taking his sweet time in letting Mike know just how he did it) - and really, Mike has yet to get a decent debate from him (if he will.)
Its up to Virus-X to control his own temper - if he cannot discuss the topic rationally or if he gets that worked up over Mike's opinion of him, he should drop the debate now.

AS for "not captiulating" - I think that means his apology is not meant to be taken as a concession - a sort of subtle jab at you, I think - he probably expects you to take the apology as a sign that he is conceding the discussion.
