Any bets on how long before he drops out of the race? One month? Three months?

I'm studying for the CPA exam. Have a nice summer, and if you're down just sit back and realize that Joe is off somewhere, doing much worse than you are.

Hmmm, maybe consider to have balls by the general public? ~Jason
I have almost reached the regrettable conclusion that the Negro's great stumbling block in his stride toward freedom is not the White Citizen's Counciler or the Ku Klux Klanner, but the white moderate, who is more devoted to "order" than to justice; who constantly says: "I agree with you in the goal you seek, but I cannot agree with your methods of direct action"; who paternalistically believes he can set the timetable for another man's freedom; who lives by a mythical concept of time and who constantly advises the Negro to wait for a "more convenient season."
How can you possibly find that refreshing? Dean's been doing the exact same shit for months now, he's just managed to abstain from using dirty words.Vympel wrote:I find it refreshing.

You just never hear a politician curse. That's what's refreshing about it. Of course, his campaign is probably dead- but hey, everyone's is. Who the hell is interested in Lieberman, Gephardt, Edwards, and Kerry? Noone. Only Dean and Clark seem to have any real presence. The others are just filler, it seems to me.Durran Korr wrote:

If Dubya hadn't supported the Kosovo adventure, the Bush camp could probably use that to pretty soundly clobber Clark on national security. But alas, he did, and Clark is still in. I still say Dean takes the nom, though.

That's a good one.The NY Post article wrote:Kerry yesterday angrily cited his war record in Vietnam when asked by a New Hampshire student about charges that it's unpatriotic to attack the commander-in- chief, fuming: "I left some blood on a battlefield that President Bush never left anywhere."

dirty words must have made an impression on the focus group and made him look like he has a 'dark side'. It's is marketing, plain and simple. God damn, he is so transparant.

I'm surprised we haven't seen anyone play on the 'Clark almost started WW3 against the Russians' yet. That would be interesting to see how he replied to it.Durran Korr wrote:If Dubya hadn't supported the Kosovo adventure, the Bush camp could probably use that to pretty soundly clobber Clark on national security. Because it would be blatent political blather and positioning. It wouldn't help him much and probably hurt him more. If Clark win's the nomination *snicker* the Republicans might bring it up to diminish Clarks military background but.......Nathan F wrote:I'm surprised we haven't seen anyone play on the 'Clark almost started WW3 against the Russians' yet. They say, "the tree of liberty must be watered with the blood of tyrants and patriots." I suppose it never occurred to them that they are the tyrants, not the patriots. Those weapons are not being used to fight some kind of tyranny; they are bringing them to an event where people are getting together to talk. -Mike Wong
But as far as board culture in general, I do think that young male overaggression is a contributing factor to the general atmosphere of hostility. It's not SOS and the Mess throwing hand grenades all over the forum- Red

Oh hell, I remember Jimmy Carter being caught on a live mike saying 'I'll whip his ass' when someone asked him about being challenged for the 1980 nomination by Ted Kennedy.
This is nothing new, and you can bet that it was a planned outburst.

It's probably not something they want to advertise. The naturally pro-war stance of knee-jerk right wingers would backfire on them.Nathan F wrote:

betcha Five bucks that if Dean were actually in the Federal government (Senate or House) he would've gone with it at the beginning. The fact that Kerry is a Senator and was in the poisition where he would have to actually vote on a resolution is a bit of a handicap. Dean had the luxury of not having to decide until he could pick what was most convenient. Screw Dean anyway, I don't want a rich white guy from a small state the northeast running the country.Sen. Kerry (Mass.) used the undeleted expletive to express his frustration and anger over how the Iraq issue has hurt him because he voted for the war resolution while Democratic front-runner Howard Dean has soared by opposing it.
This I like, another five dollar bet that the student had no idea Kerry even served in Vietnam.Kerry yesterday angrily cited his war record in Vietnam when asked by a New Hampshire student about charges that it's unpatriotic to attack the commander-in-chief, fuming: "I left some blood on a battlefield that President Bush never left anywhere."

And your point is? Dean is a human being, his overall platform doesn't depend on any specific plank, other than the statement that America can be better than what we've allowed it to be, and that we have the power to change it for the better.Darth Fanboy wrote:betcha Five bucks that if Dean were actually in the Federal government (Senate or House) he would've gone with it at the beginning.
Except his stance on being against this war (not all wars) was consistent from the start. Kerry has to live with his vote and the consequences of it, and Sen. Wellstone was the only Senator who had enough balls to vote against the resolution. Deal. Screw Kerry. He voted for the war, being on the Senate Intelligence Committee, and now he has the nerve to say that Bush misled him. Nice intelligence there, guy.The fact that Kerry is a Senator and was in the poisition where he would have to actually vote on a resolution is a bit of a handicap. Oh, this is rich. You're supporting one rich white guy from the Northeast (Kerry) by saying that you don't want another rich white guy from the Northeast (Dean) to run the country. News flash, genius: Poor and middle-class people don't make credible runs for the Presidency. Running for President takes a lot of money and the ability to take time - maybe even four years - away from your job. The Presidency was designed to be filled from the upper class.Screw Dean anyway, I don't want a rich white guy from a small state the northeast running the country.
Dean did a pretty damn good job of running his state - I'd say that clears a pretty important hurdle to running the country: job experience. We know he can run a tight ship.
