Gore endorses Dean
It's too early yet to say "President Dean," but methinks we just got an important step closer.

Poor Joe. He's probably pretty pissed and he should be. Thats fucked up, but thats politics. If Lieberman had any supporters, Dean would have lost them because of Gore.

This is Gore's way of getting back at the Clintons.....
Seriously though we are watching a split in the DNC right now. The Dean/Pelosi/Gore/Fat Bastard (ted kennedy) 'progressive' hard left liberals are putting a lot of distance between themselves and the more moderate bloc of Clinton/Gephardt/Wes Clark. Gore Has completely abandoned the his moderate roots (the DLC) and is now blatantly sucking Dean's cock in the hopes of getting a job in a potential McGove...er.. Dean administration.

Gore is endorsing Dean because he's the only Dem who has a shot at beating Bush. Endorsing Lieberman would have been utterly pointless.
If Religion and Politics were characters on a soap opera, Religion would be the one that goes insane with jealousy over Politics' intimate relationship with Reality, and secretly murder Politics in the night, skin the corpse, and run around its apartment wearing the skin like a cape shouting "My votes now! All votes for me! Wheeee!" -- Lagmonster

And Lieberman sucks anyway.
He's more conservative than Bush on some policy issues, he's the standard bearer of the anti-video game crusade, and he was the first Democrat to stand up with the Republicans and condemn (Our Lord and Savior) Bill Clinton.
For that last crime alone he should be thrown out of the party.

Only if he's running for class president. Gore has got to be one of the singularly dullest men alive today. The symbolism is a minor benefit until people remember who the hell Gore is.Iceberg wrote:It's too early yet to say "President Dean," but methinks we just got an important step closer.
True, but it's still fucked up. I don't think your going to see Joe supporting jack shit of Dean nor any pet projects of Gore in the near future.GrandAdmiralPrawn wrote:Gore is endorsing Dean because he's the only Dem who has a shot at beating Bush. Sorry, but it's as fucked up as when Bob Dole said he was supporting Bush instead of his wife. Sometimes, especially when your really not part of the ratrace any more like Gore and Dole, it's better to shut the fuck up.

By abandoning what Clinton proved beyond a shadow of a doubt TWICE that the Dems can only win running in the center, they have now handed W the presidency. Go Democrats, way to prove how utterly retarded the leadership is.
Wherever you go, there you are.

It's more than that Stravo. Systemicly the nomination process is flawed. It is set up so that only the most liberal or conservative of the respective party candidates wins the nomination. Clinton was merely an anomoly. Chalk it up to even a broken clock being right twice a day. Other than Clinton, Look at the democratic nominees for the past 30 years: Gore, Dukakis, Mondale, Carter, McGovern.... at the time these men were Presidential nominees they were just this side of Martin Sheen on the political compass. Then bam! They put a moderate (Clinton) on the ticket, and they get their first 2 term president since Harry fucking Truman! You'd think they'd make the connection.

I'm getting tired of this "Gore won the popular vote nonsense." You can't possibly make that argument given his tiny statistical margin of victory, not when as estimated 5 percent of the vote is fraudulent.

I'm studying for the CPA exam. Have a nice summer, and if you're down just sit back and realize that Joe is off somewhere, doing much worse than you are.
That and I don't think I have ever read/heard the total number after all of the abenstee ballots. Everytime you see the # its the one from election night/week. There was something akin to a million AB in California alone.Durran Korr wrote:I'm getting tired of this "Gore won the popular vote nonsense." If this were true, why isn't Dennis Kucinich winning right now? He's certainly FAR more liberal than Howard Dean (hint: Kucinich is significantly left of Paul Wellstone).Col. Carter WON, BTW. He lost in 1980 for issues not relating to left/right political scales (hint: see the Iran hostage situation, which Reagan heavily exploited for his own political gain), and also because Reagan was - credit IS due here - a very charismatic individual. Bush does not share Reagan's charisma.Clinton was merely an anomoly. Chalk it up to even a broken clock being right twice a day. Funny, the Clinton faction's been steadily losing seats for the last decade. Then bam! They put a moderate (Clinton) on the ticket, and they get their first 2 term president since Harry fucking Truman! You'd think they'd make the connection.

Clinton won the election by being a Centrist... That does not work as well in Senate and House races.... That is more of a local flavor..Funny, the Clinton faction's been steadily losing seats for the last decade.

If Gore hadn't waited until October to try to distinguish himself from Bush, he might have won the electoral vote as well as the popular vote.Stormbringer wrote:You in the election with one of the lowest voter turn-out rates in the last century?

puh-lease. Gore had to be told how to distinguish himself. Irrelevant. Roughly half of those who voted voted for Gore. Not everyone hates him, far from it. His endorsement does mean something for Dean.Col. Crackpot wrote:yeah, the guy who won on peace and prosperity and couldn't win his own home state
