Oh, I agree on the latter count. You hit the nail on the head with "should drop the debate," key word being should.Connor MacLeod wrote: I disagree. While the whole threat thing against his family may be settled, there is the fact this guy has and still is trash-talking Mike himself, dragging out if not dodging a debate *snip*
Its up to Virus-X to control his own temper - if he cannot discuss the topic rationally or if he gets that worked up over Mike's opinion of him, he should drop the debate now.
The trouble is, this guy very rarely does what he should. Again and again, he opts for something like "I was an MP who will kick your ass!" over calm discussion. I think he might behave for a bit after his apology, but he's unstable, and I don't trust him to not go nuts again.
It's purely a matter of perspective, but I don't know that engaging such an opponent yields more benefit than bother. If he did behave long enough and debated, it'd be great to blast the rest of his arguments to pieces, recycled Darkstar stuff that they are. Again, it's the "if" I won't count on.
I do know where you're coming from, though, only too well Snipers are cockroaches, and where it does good I want nothing more to take a can of RAID to their asses.

I am still completely and utterly convinced he has ZERO military background. he fucks way to much stuff up. I can accept that he is one of those guys who washes out of boot camp, and then claims to have served, but that's the extent of it.
He grossly messes up military history.
He has no clue about most of the terminology.
He claims there are only 3 branches (hell, even the basic marching songs you get taught in boot talk about all 4)
He claims that he has acess to information he wouldn't, or that people he talks to has acess to information that they wouldn't and that the share it.
Way too many gaping holes. Maybe he has a brother who served or something and is trying to use it to inflate his credibility or soomething.

Chardok, no, it's a branch. I just went to their website,

the Coast Guard is its own Branch definiely, I was led to believe that the marines fall into the heirarchy of the us Navy, or something similar to that.

The Marine Corps is technically part of the Navy, though it would behoove you not to tell that to a Marine.

The Marine Corps is part of teh DEPARTMENT of the Navy. It is nto part of the Navy itself. It is its own branch with its own service cheif and representation on the Joint Chiefs on par with all the other services.RedImperator wrote:The Marine Corps is technically part of the Navy, though it would behoove you not to tell that to a Marine.

According to 10 U.S.C. 101, the United States have five Armed Forces (United States Navy, United States Marine Corps, United States Coast Guard, United States Army, United States Air Force) and seven Uniformed Services (the five Armed Forces, the Commissioned Corps of the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, and the Commissioned Corps of the United States Public Health Service).
The USN, USMC, USA and USAF alone have statutory representation in the Joint Chiefs of Staff (the Chairman and Vice Chairman may be appointed from any of the Armed Forces, theoretically including the USCG).
The USN, USMC, USA and USAF are administratively within the United States Department of Defense in the Department of the Navy (USN and USMC), Department of the Army (USA), and Department of the Air Force (USAF). The USCG is administratively within the United States Department of Homeland Security in peace time and within the Department of the Navy in wartime (or as the President directs). The USPHS CC is administratively within the United States Department of Health & Human Services and the NOAA CC is administratively within the United States Department of Commerce; as it happens, the USPHS CC and NOAA CC both wear USN uniforms and use USN ranks (although the USPHS CC has its own rank system, it usually uses the Naval one instead).

You're not gonna believe this ... he's back! And he's posted perhaps the most bizarre "rebuttal" I've ever seen. Wanna see it?
Is it even worth replying to this with anything more complex than "concession accepted"?Isaac Bishop Junior wrote:Ok, now that I've got some time, I'll jump back in.
First of all, your arguments agains the display of firepower in The Die is Cast fall into being completely irrelevant.
Why?
That's simple.
Both Star Wars and Star Trek are nothing more than items meant to entertain. They are not science entertainment, they are science fiction. In the case of The Die is Cast from Star Trek Deep Space Nine, you consistently forget the fact that this is Star Trek, not Nova. The script clearly stated that 30% of the planetary crust was destroyed. This is not in dispute; this is now history. It happened, and there's nothing you or I can say to change that, period. The special effects reinforced this by showing explosions that were some 30-35 percent planetary diameter. Your cries for seeing ejecta or whatever are also irrelevant, because you consistently forget the fact that the explosions were there to entertain, not enlighten about impact and explosion physics. They were meant to show that they (the explosions) were big and powerful. That's it. Extropolations about power could be made based on how big they were, but not much else.
Disputing that is about as useless as my trying to debate the stupid ring special effects shown in the explosions of Alderaan and the Death Star. They're just irrelevant light shows, meant to further entertain (and, coincidentally, a bad idea). For the same token, we know the explosive power of the mines dropped by Slave-1, but we've no idea on how they work. Our knowledge of how big their explosions are came from the Incredible Cross-Sections book for Episode 2, a canon/official source of Star Wars data. Nowhere else. Trying to judge their mechanism by looking at the special effects of Episode 2 would be both pointless and stupid, just like the idiot that said quantum torpedoes contained quantum strings, and other such dumb nonsense.

Personally Mike I think you've shown great patience and restraint when dealing with this moron. When I first read your site and came across the information on "The Die Is Cast" I had no difficulty understanding what you were on about, despite my inaptitude with science and maths. Seriously, if someone that dense cannot understand the significance of the "TDIC" episode and what it implies about Trek weaponry he is probably not worth it.
I wouldn't bother replying, if I was trying to have a serious debate that is. For laughs, yeah why not? Make fun of him.

Sweet Saint Santa Claus, I think ol' Isaac Jr. needs his Zoloft refilled. Since he's basically saying that he has no rational arguement, I can't see a point in you debating him anymore. Accept his consession, and add another notch to your belt.

Makes you wonder why he even bothered with visual evidence in the first place? Or didn't bother pointing out this important (but wholly subjective) perspective untill now?
Blah, how pathetically dull. I'd say just call him on it, and let him know that if he can't accept suspension of disbeleif or use objective methods, he needs to concede since he can't actually back up his claims.
