No, the Cylons never launched a nuke at Colonial One. Apollo tied the ship's EMP generators into it's FTL drives to simulate a nuclear blast so the Cylons would go away.

There's something I didn't expect to see in BG - Technobabble. UGH. That small dialogue scene was painful to watch and even the actor for Apollo looked uncomfortable saying it. BG was never about technobabble it was more about adveture. Not that they were very guilty of it in this show but it did perk up my antennae.

Yes, the damage inflicted by the basestar missile salvoes indicated either conventional payloads, or straight kinetic kill shots. And Galactica didn't shoot warheads back because:

A) They didn't want to risk escalating the conflict further while the civilian vessels were jumping. This is a pretty stupid theory which fails to explain why the Cylons weren't using their demonstrated nuclear capabilities.

B) The Galactica, as an aircraft carrier, likely doesn't carry any heavy ordinance and relies on it's fighters, or other capital ships, to attack big targets. The only weapons aboard Galactica are those flechette guns and flak cannons.

C) The outpost might not have stocked any really heavy weapons. Just the lightweight munitions we see Galactica taking aboard for it's fighters and it's defense grid.

I liked Boxy on the old show and at least they didn't make this Boxy take up as much screen time as the last one. I also noticed some odd relationship things in this show.

Did anyone pick up the "Hey he's cute" vibe from the president with Apollo? I swear there were a few times when I thought she was going to say "Kiss me you fool." I do NOT see the obvious possible connection between her and Adama.

Also Boxy looks like he will be linked with Boomer and not Apollo as he was in the original show. Thats kind of sad because I liked the whole surrogate family being created by the crisis that we saw in the original BG. Apollo as father, Serena the mom and then Boxy. And Adama is like the PERFECT grandfather as we saw in those touching scenes between him and Boxy when Adama talked about Apollo as a boy.

SPOILER: The combination of Boxy as surrogate child and Jolly's love will turn Cylon Boomer against the Cylons when the time comes. Afterall Number 6 proves that they can fall in love.

Arg, my brain.

There I was. Sitting in my basement watching the last two hours of the new BSG. As it was wrapping up, and the dude in the station was facing the Cylons, I was thinking; 'You know, with some major problems, this isn't THAT bad.' and then the last little twist came around.

You know, I sick of movie makers making that last little twist to shock audiences. You know, the kind that really doesn't make any sence at all. The kind that doesn't contribute to the story but are just there for a final shocker.

Fuck you Moore. You could have played that game with a new character. You could have played your stupid game with a minor character. But to pull that shit with an established character, one that is in doubt anyway because of your feminazi wankfest, pisses me off.

I could have eventually overlooked that dumb ass Starbuck/Boomer thing. But not this.

The pace in the second installment was still too slow. IMO.

The more they have the President on screen and involved in the plot, the more I no longer care about her. If I was Apollo, I'd have knocked the dumb bitch out hours ago and gathered what I could and make a rendervue away from combat.

For a good end twist, they should have had Baltar be the Cylon agent. They should have had Starbuck be Sheba, and Starbuck a womanizing, boozing, gambling, awesome guy that he is. They should have had Athena in there some where. It would have made Adama's and Apollo's tiff more believable. Boomer should have been a male. The chick Boomer, if you insist on being a cylon thingy, should have been Aroara.

Where the hell is Greenbean?

The final battle was pretty good. Still don't like the Basestars or Raiders.

Liked all the original rag tag fleet ships being in the new rag tag fleet.

Well if they make a show I will watch it. I liked the new version over the old one. Also I beleive the reason that the Galactica didn't decide to go toe-to-toe with the Basestars is because the Galactica is fifty years old.

Have I ever said here how much I hate Cute Kids™ in SF? The only reason I can tolerate Radical Ed in Cowboy Bebop is because that character is such an obvious parody of the stereotype.

It would have been funnier in the closing scene if the last Cylon duplicate-human to enter the chamber on Ragnar had turned out to be —Boxey.

In the book Sarena wasn`t Boxeys mother she found him on caprica after the attack started .Also one of the reasons the colonists were ready for peace was they the tyrium they used for fuels was starting to run out.

Interesting not Baltar was able to sell the fuel and his people were the ones to say Carilon was uninhabited and had no Tyruim

I saw the original guy that played Boomer at a comic con a few months back. He was sitting at a table alone, waiting for someone to get an 8x10 picture signed. No one stopped, not even me.

What was really sad was, he was sitting next to the guy that played Dr. Zaius on the Apes tv show. When I left for the day, Boomer was standing outside the auditorium taking a smoke break, unnoticed, and alone... =sniff=

On the 21st, there's another comic con at the Shrine Hall in L.A. having to do with "Firefly" Maybe old Boomer will be there, and I'll grab an autograph!
