It's Doctor Swordopolis! He didn't invest in sword medical school to be called 'Mr.'!

I would say the blade is a little too curved to be effective, but other than that, it looks good.

It looks neat, but if it were real, I'd worry about a) having almost no impact area to hit opponents with and b) stabbing myself in the face with it while trying to fight.

It looks like the back edge is sharpened. Is that deliberate?

It's a reference to the ingenious 8-bit theatre.

Curved blades are slashing weapons, not chopping weapons. More finesse than strength.

With a curve like that it's a ceremonial weapon, designed to look flash and scary but absolutely no fucking use in a fight against someone armed with a real sword. Anything that long with a curve more than a Katana or a sabre is going to be a complete liability in a swordfight. The only things you see curved that much are some of the more extreme cutlasses and scimitars, chopping weapons designed more for intimidation than actual use. It's crap. Straighten the blade out a bit and it'd be great, but right now it's a danger to it's owner.

Yes in fact it is. Like many curved-bladed swords produced in Europe during the late period, the back of the blade has an edge from the tip down the first third of the blade or so.

The curve was meant more to emulate a sabre, but I didn't have a model illustration in front of me to work from and it looked less extreme when I was drawing it, to be honest. I'm going to have to re-draw the entire sword. Poopie.

It does remind me a little of the description of a shotel though.
