DOW closes at 10,000+, What does this mean for Dean?

With the DOW closing at 10,000 as we speak and add this to the 8.2% of economic growth and the continual decrease of the Unemployment rate, how much of this good data will hurt Dean's and the DNC's camapign in 2004? I think this will hurt the Dems and it will be the final proof that Dean and the Dems do not know what they are talking about and they will be seen as a party that wants the economy go down for political reasons.

Please folks, don't start that "We should be happy for people...They are seeing nice gains in their 401k's..yadda yadda" Bottom line, this will HELP BUSH!

I took a look at my IRA today and see it sitting at a three year high. I admit, for a moment, I felt a moment of glee, then I remembered who this is REALLY helping, big corporations, Bush's supporters, and the sheep who think he really did anything to boost the economy.

Like it or not, people vote with their pocketbooks and when they see these big gains, they will be happy. Couple this with the bigger than ever tax refund checks people we getting (Thanks in no small part to the politically motivated tactic of reducing tax brackets across the board in JULY, and making the bill retroactive, so the first 7 months of overpaid taxes will be INCLUDED in your tax refund...in addition to the doubled child credit and marriage penalty drop...my GOD...I know most of tax cuts help the rich, but this shit really will help middle America with larger refunds. ALSO, since Dubya dropped the steel tariffs, the price of nearly everything with metal in it will be DROPPING over the next few months...meaning more spending...more demand...more products sold...more corporate revenue...more jobs needed...We need to admit this and prepare for it.

The people are going to be happy.
They like their tax reductions.
They like cheap prices on stuff.
They like their 401k's being up 40% this year.

If the economy keeps this pace, unemployment will likely be down to 5.5% by next November and we better have a damn good argument against Bush's policies. Is there any way we can take credit for helping the economy? We certainly are going to need an argument for this next year.

It probably is satire, or one of the raving loonies, much like the Bush supporters who proudly declare America was founded a Christian nation and all these evil atheists are worshipping Satan for the win.

If the DOW stays above 10,000, I'll be quite happy. It means there will be more jobs soon around here. But we'll see if it stays that high. The stock market, after all, is based on people's hopes and guesses.

shoot down any further hijacked airliners. I can just imagine Clinton didling

For all of W's faults, I like his decisiveness a lot, after 8 years of middling
grade Clintonism, where we never did anything without consulting lots of
pollsters.

The recovery of the economy might make it an issue on which Dean can't gain much ground, but I don't think jobs or anything is really coming back fast enough for Bush very much gain much either. Though that will probably be bad for Bush, if American's care less about the nations economic situation then the next biggest issue is Iraq.

No, we saw W running like a little bitch with an expression like a deer caught in the headlights while true heroes were rushing TO the collapsing buildings and a mayor ended looking far more presidential and giving us far more information in those first two days than our 'decisive' president.

I will NOT allow Bush fans to try an rewrite his HORRIBLE initial performance during 9/11.

location and into touch with the National Command Authority apparatus
to order retalitatory strikes if needed.

How about the reverse of this, where we call people cowards when clearly they had more guts than most. And I'm talking about the hijackers. They spent how many months, undercover in a hostile country, executing an elaborate plan and then finally undertaking the hijackings... All of the time KNOWING that they were going to die in the end. Sure their actions were deplorable, but that has to take balls to spend that much time in the lions den.

Gotta agree with this. Though I'd just rather shoot them in the back of

Actually Shep, as someone who has read Bush at war you know he was given a choice. They told him it was a good idea not to go to the White House but all he had to say was "I'm going. The country is at war and they need to see their president." Instead he chose the safer route.

I'm sure Giuliani was told by his people not to go to Ground Zero but he went and was there when they started coming down, engulfed by debris and dust and he stood there to show the world "We're still here. We're shaken but still standing"

Bush showed us "I gots to run and hide."

Duty fine, but don't go trotting him out like it was his finest hour because it was most certainly NOT. For HOURS we saw nor heard him.
