I'll drive that van," he points to the van previously owned by the goons, "and everyone here can ride along with me. You," he moves his finger to point at Ernesto, "can drive your van and follow the rest of us to the compound. That way, everyone gets to the compound, and no one takes off with the van, never to be seen again. Ok?"
"Awwww, how cute. Here, would it help if I called you an American Pig-Dog, for old time's sake?"

Methinks someone's wanting diiiiiibs. ;)
Note the bit where Dirk said "everyone can ride along with me" (except for Ernesto, obviously, since I don't think he wants to leave his van behind), so that includes Mikal. That insures that no one pulls any shit, since there will be enough other people there (who also don't trust each other) to blow the offender away. :D

Yes, but I don't see X-Ray eyes as part of your cybernetic enhancements. ;)

That's correct, but the motivation for blowing everyone away and taking off with the van isn't there if you know that before you can take everyone out, you get killed too. If you can't get away with it, then there's no point in pulling the trigger. :D

I fail to see the logic. If you do not know there is anything of value inside the van, what reason is there to suspect that anyone will try and take off with it?

I thought he looked in when he came over. The door was partially open after all

Campaign thread wrote:The 4 with Stacey:
An inspection of the van doesn't reveal any hiding soldiers, but it does reveal the reason the 4 were trying to get in before joining the attack. Instead of the submachine guns they were carrying, they could have gotten access to any of the weaponry stashed inside. A quick glance reveals about a dozen pieces in all, the stars being an 2nd generation M29 (OICW with much smaller computer component and lighter overall), a PSG-1 with thermal scope, and a Pecheneg 7.62 x 54R heavy machine gun. The rest are more garden variety assault rifles, grenades, and light machineguns.
I assumed that everyone could see in the back of the van. After all, it wasn't halfway across town, just across the parking lot.

Oh btw, I forgot to include one of the most important pieces of any corporate goon squads arsenal, some sort of rocket launcher. There's no way they'd go around without one of those in the van. I'll edit it in.

No pressure or anything, but at some point you are going to have to inventory this. It's a few turns away, probably - depending on how much role play it takes to get to the compound. I don't want to jump the gun or anything, but if some items from here find their way into the van, I don't think anyone'll be disappointed.

Someone more knowledgeable about such things will correct me if I'm wrong, but it was my impression that it's not at all certain that it's possible or feasible to produce a significant EMP effect without the large explosion to go along with it.
"EMP cannon" is just a name. The weapon is actually a micro-waver that induces a much smaller EM charge. But it dosn't take much to fry cybernetics. (or so says the cyberpunk rulebook)

Also, to amend my "no damage" statment. If you have cybernetics that directly interface with your brain you either die or loose INT.

I intend to inventory it when someone looks through it, but it was just a glance, so only the things that stuck out were listed. And the PSG-1 is from that site :)

Where does it say that? I don't remember writing that.

I dunno. If I were running a game farther into the future and with more technological progress, I'd definitely say yes, but in this one I have a hard time with that EMP stuff. Besides, why wouldn't the makers of cybernetics shield them?

I mean the REAL 'punk' rule-book. Unless your saying you wrote the actualy RPG cyberpunk (not G&G)

As for sheilding, you CAN do it with cybernetic limbs, but it will be heavy.

As for nurel implants, no way, you'd use up so much space you'd leave the person brain-dead.

One other thing, I notice that "bodyguard" and "obsenely ritch" are two different traits (advantages, perks, whatever you wish to call them.)

Given the setting, if I have "obscenly ritch" as a charachter perk, can I have a small squad of merc's with me? Of couse I will have to pay them, but that's not a problem.
