I know nothing about Canadian politics and the only thing I know about this guy is that CNN has labeled him "Pro-American." Frankly I don't ever remember getting an "Anti-American" vibe from our neighbors to the north but any truth to his bias?

Let's put it this way: he's a successful businessman. Jean Chretien, on the other hand, was a career politician who liked to pander to French sensibilities.

Matin's an ass who regstered all his ships in Panama to avoid paying Canadian taxes. (And he's now in charge. Great.)

Chretien's the closest Canada's had to a dictator cause there was no viable option. (Although I never voted Liberal.)

Overall Chretien did a great, middle of the road job. Balanced the budget for the right. Strengthened our liberal social policies for the left.

Granted he wasn't perfect. He was arrogant because no body could defeat him in an election. And because of that there were more scandals then perhaps there should have been.
