Of course, I'd have to be the reckless young fighter pilot. In proper dashing hero pretty-boy fashion, I'd be captured, tortured and interrogated by some standard-issue Evil Nazi Guy, and would wind up with a nice, heroic facial scar for all the ladies to fawn over. Then a unit of Allied soldiers would bust me out (of course, the government would want me back, since I am literally the poster boy for the US Navy).

I'd be the short timer Navy Chief stuck on a rust bucket piece of crap destroyer with a bunch of lamers and a wacked out captain who makes me spend most of my time tracking down his missing strawberries.

We still need a preacher sort of character. He would be learning to become a minister, but with the war, he felt his heart would be with his friends and comrades-in-arms, and during the interludes between battles, he would preach to his comrades, using a mix of Bibble quotes with hard, boot camp style, talk.
