I think what he was trying to do was to use the width of the torpedo "glow" (which is obviously a lot bigger than the physical casing) compared against Voyager's size to measure the asteroid--much like estimating the length of a turbolaser blast to measure the asteroids in TESB. I didn't detect any attempts to actually say torpedoes were that big. At least he's kinda-sorta trying to use visual evidence--if only to prove how big an asteroid 2 photorps can fragment.

However, that's the only point I'm going to bat for him on.
