Goddamned Steam!

Post by IRG CommandoJoe »

I keep trying to update Steam for DoD, but it gets all the way up to 99% and then restarts two more times before saying, "Steam is temporarily unavailable, please try later..." "Later"? Wtf does that mean? Son of a bitch! How long will I have to frigging wait?!?!

I feel for you.

Guess I won't try and get Steam again, yet... Will it ever work properly?
As for HL2... Its not looking like a game I'll buy.
For example, suppose I wrote a book that within 30 years of the moon landing millions of people could be duped by bad science and endless hectoring into believing that it didn't happen... nah, can't do that, too unbelievable for a fantasy novel, right?--Terry Pratchett, The new Discworld Companion

Don't give up on HL2...unless you are suggesting that it will work with Steam too...?

I'm definately going to rent singleplayer, but as Steams going to be the prefered (read only  ) method of auth/update I'm not to hopeful for the multiplayer. And FPS' are too short-lived for me without the multiplayer aspect.

Don't you think HL2 will have its own server list feature like in HL? You should at least wait until it is released and then hear from HL2 players before deciding not to buy it.

Well anyway, it turns out that after I deleted Steam, redownloaded it, and then installed it, it now works.
