While those critiques of the clothing are dead on target, they apply to anyone wearing them, not just cross-dressers.Simon H.Johansen wrote:Well, from a purely analytical pint of view crossdressing is rather irrational, as many items of clothing considered typically female (eg. corsets, high-heel shoes, long gowns) actually hamper the wearer's mobility. Yep, but our culture doesn't encourage men to wear corsets or stiletto heels. It's rather peculiar that while cultural evolution in the 20th century led to women starting to wear trousers because they're more practical than dresses, a subculture among males start dressing stereotypically feminine for no apparent reason.Frank Hipper wrote:While those critiques of the clothing are dead on target, they apply to anyone wearing them, not just cross-dressers.Simon H.Johansen wrote:Well, from a purely analytical pint of view crossdressing is rather irrational, as many items of clothing considered typically female (eg. corsets, high-heel shoes, long gowns) actually hamper the wearer's mobility. Well, there must be some reason behind it... whether or not it's a psychologically healthy reason is debatable -- it certainly isn't a practical reason, as you've already pointed out. The only item of clothing which remotely resembles anything feminine and still has practical use is the greatkilt, and the only real benefit that has is that you can piss or fuck without wasting time unzipping, unbelting, etc. Just reach, lift and go.Simon H.Johansen wrote:Yep, but our culture doesn't encourage men to wear corsets or stiletto heels.
