Yeah, I loved Civ, but for some reason, 3 is harder to build, and what I *hate* is that after the time is up, and just before it asks you if you wish to continue it; well in Civ they would show you the powergraph AND a map showing which city was founded when and all that jazz.

In Civ 3 they don't show the latter, which means I have to fucking launch a satellite and sit throug hours of some stupid computer moving one or two units backwards and forwards, which just shits me.

Civ 3 has become my new addiction. I once played a game for 9.5 hours straight. Good way to waste a sunday

I broke my Civ habit a while ago. Right now, it is Empire Earth multiplayer that takes my time.

However, lurking on my desktop is the trial version of Geneforge II. I played it a little bit then quit before it sucked me in. I will play after the new year when I have a more stable schedule.

Bah, Civ 2 is an infinitely better gameplay experience. Hell, even CTP2 is better than Civ 3.

Allow me to just add, may the creators of safe disc fucking blow me....thanks to them, I cannot get my copy of Civ 3 to work....nor my copy of the expansion.

And just what's wrong with Civ 3? I think the gameplay is an actual improvement over Civ 2 with the excepetion of the confusing way epsionage operates.

In my opinion the CTP series blows ass.

Try getting Daemon... Google it.

I have Civ 3, but never really played it much... I kinda got turned off to it when the enemy units with long, sharp, pointy sticks beat my guys with rifles...

Download the updates. The balancing problems have largely been solved, ocassionally you get a fluky result on deity but that's rare.

Daemon tools won't work if your CD-ROM inherently has problems with Safedisc.

The unique unit system is a dumb idea, as is the corruption system in its entirety (I played it when it first came out and patched it several times, and it was still fucked, I don't care how it is now I've given up on it), it's combat results are retarded and more inclined to "trireme beats battleship" syndrome than Civ 2, it retains the moronic, makes no sense settler/whatever unit tile improvement system that was a serious micromanagement problem with Civ 2, something that the original CTP shat all over with it's much more sensible PW system, it's moronic "army" system where you have to get a special frigging unit just to stack units (something CTP2 has as standard, not to mention you can create and name army groups in CTP2) and it's music is shit. : )
In my opinion the CTP series blows ass.
Why?
