The FF series have been over rated for sometime. FF 3 (6) was easily the best in the series and still stands as i have played all of them so far (except x-2). VIII has been the worst of them though by far

FFXII, as I heard, is to take place in the Tactics world. ;)
Tactics Advance, actually. I still haven't got around to playing Tactics Advance, but I'm fairly certain that the Ivalice in the original is different from the one in Advance.

Also, FFX/X-2 and FFVII take place in the same universe as one another as well, albeit on different planets. So hopefully this will become a trend.

I'm studying for the CPA exam. Have a nice summer, and if you're down just sit back and realize that Joe is off somewhere, doing much worse than you are.

The concept of drawing in magic really didn't appeal to me. I rather run out of mana then points to cast because I can have ethers ready. Story didn't really appeal to me either. I think I only went as far as the "Landing" and that tower in the beginning.

FF2, 3, 9, and 10 are my favorites as they were all awesome.~Jason

BTW, can someone who have completed FF2 PM me, I'm stuck at the moon and I have no clue where to go...

I have almost reached the regrettable conclusion that the Negro's great stumbling block in his stride toward freedom is not the White Citizen's Counciler or the Ku Klux Klanner, but the white moderate, who is more devoted to "order" than to justice; who constantly says: "I agree with you in the goal you seek, but I cannot agree with your methods of direct action"; who paternalistically believes he can set the timetable for another man's freedom; who lives by a mythical concept of time and who constantly advises the Negro to wait for a "more convenient season."

errmm, how do you know that FFX and FFVII take place in the same universe? If it's just some offical statement, what's the point of making them this way? :?:

It was confirmed in the Ultimania Guide to FFX-2, which is official stuff. Here's the thread on it:

Intersting, I just thought the name Shinra was only just an homage to FFVII - as I missed that coversation about Mako energy. But that's definatly intersting, nonetheless.

Being as FFIV is one of, if not my favorite FF, I know quite a bit of it, and already PMed him about it.

Considering the extra dimension of characterization that voice-acting allows, and the accompanying music, I consider FFX-2's Good Ending (combined with the Normal) my favorite of all FF games. FFX's ending was good as well, though quite sad and leaving things open. FFX-2 has the happy ending with real closure, making the entire game, even the cheesy parts, worthwhile.

Not to say I didn't like the endings to FFIV, FFV, and FFVI, but FFX and FFX-2 have the advantage of FMV and voice-acting, which makes it easier to sympathize with and understand the characters.

My brother is currently playing FFVIII. So far I have no real opinion on the game, and he's okay with it; still on Disc 3.

As for those refusing to play FFX-2 because you consider it mere "fan service", you are sad and pathetic fools. FFX-2 is a true and proper sequel. The characters have changed (although previous remarks are right and Rikku is somewhat superfluous this time around, not really having any storyline or part where she can shine; she mostly ends up as comic relief with Brother) and the newest additions, particularly Paine, are superb. Yuna's personality is still the same as before, though she's less conservative and restrained this time around. I wouldn't say she's "harder", so much as the "will stronger than steel" credited to her in the last game has been re-directed in many ways. Though I still think most of the dancing stuff, like at the beginning of Chapter 2, is unneeded, even if the plot links with the Songstress Sphere itself are workable.
