[Space Nest 48, Affront Four]

The Affront Admiral looked down on the manufacturing bay. It was an enormous construct even on the scale of Space Nest. It was a cavernous void easily 30 kilometers to a side and twice that deep. The massive was designed for one purpose, the efficient mass production of the Blade Dancer HOUs. Only one was being built right now, it had been designated Kiss the Blade only a few local days ago. The enormous space was barely ticking over right now but should the day of battle come.....

The Affronters tentacles curled in pleasure as he contemplated the hordes of ships this and other like it could turn out. Already it had been decided to add some of the lesser units in due time, after all one couldn't let the galaxy think the Affront had gone soft.

The Affronter gave what amounted to a smile, but mostly just looked like it was about to bite the head off some poor unfortunate.

The admiral turned and whispered to an aide, "Get some diplomats over there now. I don't care if you have to toss them on to a transport in their underwear, just do it."

The Trade Embargo is as unprovoked as it is useless. The Stuart Corporation has, as you undoubtedly failed to notice, next to no trade relations with any other nation, except ourselves. We are, and have been for the last 3000 years, self-sufficient.
But in order to couter what is a highly aggressive and offensive decision, your ships, personel are banned from Corporation space. Any ship found within our space will be forced to leave, or destroyed. Any citizen will be arrested.
Unless, of course, you retract your preposterous embargo.

As a show of solidarity with our friends and allies in the Stuart Corporation, the Senate of the Commonwealth has decided to establish a punitive embargo against your own small nation. All vessels flying your flag will be expelled from Commonwealth territory. Those who refuse to comply will be detained.

Your continued empty hostility shocks us. Your nation continues to needlessly bark about affairs that are of no consequence to you. It is clear that your impression of the Grand Alliance is horrifically skewed.

In the interests of peace, the Commonwealth would be willing to send an ambassador. The time for conquest and violence has come to an end, and the reconstruction of the galaxy will require solidarity.

Gladstone nodded towards the foreign affairs advisor. "Well, then dispatch a ship. Make contact. Assess the threat potential and wether they're friendly, or not. I don't want unpleasant surprises, especially since they're relative close to us..."
"I'll have a ship ready, with a diplomatic staff of us. I think we can leave in the next 5 or 6 days."

In several secluded board rooms on the other side of the galaxy from the new arrivals, plans were drafted up for the myriad Corporate Sector marketing drones. Shortly thereafter, ships and transmissions were dispatched to the new galactic arrivals...

(ooc: too busy cleaning etc to do a full post, so let's just say that a few PR people, not necessarily human, have been sent over with catalogs and other glitzy stuff.)

UTRN Light Cruiser Bright Destiny, deep space patrol mission.

"Captain. unidentified vessel at long range approaching at standard sublight velocities. Beginning standard first contact procedures." Destiny had been seconded to Survey command for this mission and was especially equiped for survey and first contact missions.

"Incoming transmission from the unidentified ship."

"Play it on the bridge loudspeakers."

"You have encountered the Affront and we wish to know whether you are friend or foe?"

"Open return channel and broadcast full tri-d signal. Affront vessel, I am Captain Francisco of the United Terran Republic Navy. I can not answer your guestion as to whether we will be friends or foes till we have learned more about each other." Captain Francisco as a survey command captain was also a diplomat who had been secondaded to the state department many times in the past.

"For now I will assume that we can be friends until you show us otherwise."

The Affront Captain simply looked at the UTR Captain.

"You may choose not to call us a friend now, and you may be holding back on calling us foe, but know this and remember it well. The United Terran Republic has never been prey and will never be. "

He looked at the odd alien and continued. "As for the purpose of this discussion, I beleive we have covered all that needs to be covered for now. If you care to continue this dialogue I will leave you with a means to contact our government. Until then I have my mission to finish. Good Voyage."

The Affront ship watched the UTR vessel depart the system and then sent of an encoded message to headquarters. It had been an interesting if unproductive contact. What would come of it would be up to those on the Council.

The diplomatic courier ship emerged fromits jumpoint on the edges of what could be considered Affront space It sent a transmission to a nearby ptrol vessel.

"The Aquarian Union sends it's most esteemed greetings to the Affront. We wish to welcome you to known space, and possibly open up trade relations."

The Affront officers in charge of the picket gave a small hoot of their equivalent of laughter. None of them had been especially impressed by the Aquarian message.

"Spoken like true eneuchs." remarked the first officer

"Now now, remember we're supposed to make nice with the aliens. " said the captain, "Now open a comm channel."

"Aquarians, we send our greetings in return" the Affront Captain was putting on a remarkably jovial performance "But simple trade is a thing for old men and woman. If you wish we could go fetch them for you."

After assessing the information apprehended from other nations, a rough idea of where to go was evaluated.

The Demonstration of Will appeared in an unknown system and sent a message in the direction of these Affronters.

The Onslaught-class battleship Liberator had been scanning the area for any relevant comms traffic for some time.

"Decode and view."

"They've found the "Affront" Sir."

"Trace the signal."

"Scanning..... and.... got it, it's an uninhabited system a few hours from here."

"Set course and make the jump."

The Liberator jumped twards Affront space.

"It is not wise to make military commitments with those that have yet to prove themselves. We do not offer alliance with out proof of the warrior spirit and so far you have been sorely lacking."

"Confirmed this time, just like Andrews said. The energy signatures off that ship talking with the Aquarians are a bit odd, but there's definate infraspace interaction. Like a tiny version of one of our ships." The sensor operator spoke, examining the Affront vessel as the larger Alliance Cruiser swung through space.

"Interesting.." Murmured the man on the Captain's seat. "Bring us in close. Nice and balletic."

The huge Gangster-class craft slid along the Energy Grid, cutting speed gradually as it approached the smaller ships. It swung around on it's axis as it bled off the last of it's speed, it's outer Field layers bumping the Aquarian vessel. The main comm started up, as distant stars glinted off the legendary Crown Of Thorns that held the ship's main gun.

"Hey, Fishheads! Move over, we wanna meet your new friends!"

"At least you have the sense to realize it is not the machines that make the warrior, it is the warriors heart. We will consider your species."

In that moment they noted the arrival of the Black Alliance ship. These rogues were far more to the liking of the Affront than the Aquarians. The Affront captain smiled, depsite the possibility of grave harm coming to his ship, at the sheer brass balled determination of the Alliance captain.

A jumpoint formed next to the Allience ship, the energy wash caused the shielding to go down and minor hull damage
