The tiny corvette sprang into battle readiness, shields up, gun turrets armed by the time the jumpoint had vanished

As the time was up, the Demonstration of Will[/] hasn't received anything. It received orders from Fleet Central to search the near vicinity for these Affronters. If they were to find nothing within 5 hours, real-time, they were ordered home and Affront was tagged with a high threat coefficient for the Corporation.

The Black Alliance cruiser's hull was briefly bared to space after the Jump Point collapsed, before it's fields glimmered back into life, like sealing a wound.

"You're lucky we're just here to talk, Aquarunts. But don't worry, we got plenty if you really want a fight." The Captain of the Mr. Nice Guy spoke. "Now, Affront. Pleasure ta meetcha. We, of course, are the Black Alliance vessel Mr. Nice Guy. We aren't really too worried about trade and suchlike, but instead, felt it our civic duty to offer you all a chance to surrender. Or, we could just have a nice little brawl here and save the time of a full fledged war."

SUBJ1 (Sous-Leftenant Marc Antonio): Chef-Admiral, one of our deep-space pickets out in G sector has picked up Aquarian comm chatter, about 15,000 LY out from the Cornerian border. Sounds like a space battle.
SUBJ2 (Chef-Admiral Jaquiline St. Juste): I wonder what the Aquarians are up, and why they didn't inform us of their movements. The Aquarians wouldn't send ships that far out of their zone of control, overstretched as they are, without a damn good reason.
SUBJ1: My thoughts exactly, madam.
SUBJ2: Dispatch Kappa Manipule to the region, with orders to assist the Aquarians.

Just before they were about to jump to the next location of their search patern, the communications officer commed the captain over Milsphere.
"Distress signal received. Aquarian origin."
"How far way?"
"Very close, actually."
"Very well, re-calculate jump coordinates. Then jump."

An instant later, the ship appeared 100,000 kilometers off the Aquarian ship, already at general quarters.
"This is SSSNA Demontration of Will. We received an Aquarian distress signal. Do you need assistance?"

As the Aquarian ship opened fire the VFP took the oppurtunity to run. It was far faster than even a genuine Ganster and this relic couldn't possibly hope to catch it.

The ship bolted immediately.

The massive frame of the battlecruiser dashed forward, propelled by its massive gravitic anomaly, picking up the offensive ship with its targeting sensors.

"Huh. Just like the fishheads, have no idea how a military society conducts negotiations." The Captain shook his head. Still, the Affront had proven to be braver than most. Hadn't taken up the challenge.. But you'd have to be suicidally confident to actually try and gun down a cruiser this big without intel, with your empire hanging in the balance. Brave enough to fight and die, though. Better than the Aquarians, who took a challenge to another vessel and nation as reason to start a fight.

The weapons fire from the corvette caused the fields to flex and shift, the bigger ship holding out without much effort. The Crown Of Thorns lit, with immense coherent radiation flowing together.

"Aim to disable. No reason to start a war with them just yet." With those words, the blast of energy whipped out and smash into the tiny ship's engines, the Gangster starting to get attached to the Energy Grid. The approaching Stuart vessel was going to be a hassle to smash through.

The Gangster was tracking the leaving Affront craft's coordinates, but really had no chance of keeping up. It started moving, even as it took fire from smaller craft.

The corvette dodged another Ion cannon blast, and let loose a salvo of turbolaser fire... But another weapons blast hit it and sent the crew realing.

"Corporation ship has arrived"

"But them between us"

With that, the ships engines were hit by an overwhelming hit that destroyed the engines functioning

A single missile left the ship's launchers and flashed the ridiculously low distance towards the Alliance ship, where the missile detonated it's low-yield anit-matter warhead off it's starboard bow.

"Pirate ship, this is your last warning. Heave to, or we open fire!"

"That's Black Alliance vessel to you, kiddo. And nothing doing."

A group of plasma charges suddenly appeared between the two warships, detonating in a flash of energy that briefly obscured the cruiser as it began to race between Inferior and Superior hyperspace, vanishing into the distance in a rapid retreat.

"We've got bigger fish to fry.. Get it!" Was the last comment, fading away.

The Liberator Accelerated and moved to the Aquarian's aid.

The Surfrunner's captain wasn't a fool but neither was he a coward. His ship had disengaged propmtly and was now running to the middle of no where. The Very Fast Picket hadn't gunned it's engines to the max and was instead simply holding itself a safe distance ahead of the Black Alliance ship.

As the plasma charges went of, a full broadside of FTL missiles were fired. Unfortunately they couldn't see if they hit the target at all, or if it already was beyond weapons range.
"Coward," the captain snorted.
"Heave to, and prepare to tow the Aquarian corvette aboard."

Usings its previous momentum to get near the corporation ship, the corvette used its tractor beams to move around the Stuartian vessel, anduse it as a giant shield. It then used its manuvering thrusters to get itself in a position to continue firing on the Allience ship as it disapeared.

"As soon as the corvette is aboard, we'll depart for Aquarian space. And inform Fleet Central of the hostilities with the Black Alliance. At least now we know where to look for this..:Affront. Maybe we'll look around here after we brought the Aquarians home"

UTR South-Eastern Border.

Special Detachment One (tmp) UTRN Home Fleet

Rear Admiral Dellstar was flying his flag on the Dreadnought TNS Mars. It was very rare to see one of the UTRNs Terrae class Dreadnoughts outside the borders of the Republic. But this was a special occasion, they didn't want to be accused of offering the President of the Three Suns Commonwealth anything less then complete security.

A secondary reason for the selection was to show the TSC what the Republic heavy ships looked like. Out in the devestated regions where the UTRN and TSN had been operating the UTR had never deployed anything larger then a Battlecruiser, and even those were deployed in very limited numbers. Relations were civil betweent he Commonwealth and Republic but it never hurt to remind the other side of what you could do, no matter how obliquely.

Detachment One was also assigned eight destroyers and six light cruisers for scouting and escort as well as a pair of light carriers. For now they were just awaiting the arrival of President Von Braun and his party to begin the tour of the UTR.
