How you jam it if there's a) no way you know it existed, b) nothing to jam, like signals in hyperspace, et al.Stormbringer wrote:And again, what makes your techonology proof against jamming?Dahak wrote:Because there's nothing you could jam in a point-to-point connection?Stormbringer wrote: And that means you've got mystical jammer proof tech why?

Since when did you have this capability? I see nothing in the OOB indicating you can do this. I've seen no evidence of this capability prior to you just pulling it out of your ass. So suddenly have this capability, which was completely unknown prior to this, and you're claiming it just because I blew a battlecruiser into dust with an entire Task Force.Dahak wrote:Beowulf, you can't jam an instantaneous, point-to-point connection. EDIT: also note the obscene data rate that would be required to be able to upload the thought patterns of everyone onboard in the second or so before the ship went up.

It was always there. Just another application of my drive systems, which are, as you will observe, all instantaneous, point-to-point.Beowulf wrote:Since when did you have this capability? As well as several instances where it has been seen that people are connected to each other all over the galaxy.

An ion cannon that can wipe out all technology on a planet in one shot is also just another application of HAB and everyone else's ion cannon technology as well. So I guess you won't object when I have one of those arrive in your home system without warning or any pervious declaration, and use it to fry your capital?Dahak wrote: It was always there. Goddamit, people, I HATE it when folks go and declare a magical unjammable technology.Communications is usually handled via ansible, which is effectively an unjammable, point to point, instantenous communication mechanism
Beowulf has his toys. Let Dahak have his.
Oh, and BTW, Beowulf- There was a Commonwealth patrol squadron en route to the location (note my post about a page back.) The game, I am afraid, is up. You can't hide the fact that a large Stuartian warship was blasted to peices by an inordinate number of Cornerian missiles....

Frankly, unless you indicated it somehow then you're on thin ice. And it doesn't at all preclude it being jammed at the source.
A heretofore completely unseen, and unknown application. And instances where people are connected with each other all over the galaxy isn't especially hard. Take the modern telecom system. I can talk to you on the phone with hardly a delay, while there is an obvious speed limitation to how fast the signal can go. Take it to a galactic level, and there need only be a sufficently fast carrier. Ergo, instantenous point to point has yet to be conclusively demonstated for you.Dahak wrote:It was always there. It's not that he has it that I'm pissed about, it's that he's suddenly sprung it on us, as opposed to having it previously declared. And I do sell weapons to other powers. Inordinate numbers of Cornerian missiles is somewhat expected when they're Cornerian.Thirdfain wrote:Goddamit, people, I HATE it when folks go and declare a magical unjammable technology.Communications is usually handled via ansible, which is effectively an unjammable, point to point, instantenous communication mechanism

Dahak has mentioned this technology DOZENS of times since the advent of this STGOD, it is central to the culture of his empire. It's not that he has it that I'm pissed about, it's that he's suddenly sprung it on us, as opposed to having it previously declared. And I do sell weapons to other powers. Inordinate numbers of Cornerian missiles is somewhat expected when they're Cornerian.
Additionally, the Commonwealth fleet wasn't that far away when you pulled your little jump-and-smash. They saw the drive signatures on long-distance sensors. The very size of your fleet works against it in this situation.

You know what, I'm going to exercise the mod-stick on this one. Dahak, since this was sprung on every one with out any warning at all, I think it's best to consider that they simply didn't react in time to get a distress signal off. You'll have the tech and this time we'll all actually know. Fair?
However the debris and all this going to be pretty solid evidence so it's not like the results won't be the same.

When has he mentioned this technology? I haven't seen it. And I have a perfectly reasonable explaination as to why I was there. I was hunting pirates.Thirdfain wrote:Dahak has mentioned this technology DOZENS of times since the advent of this STGOD, it is central to the culture of his empire. It's not that he has it that I'm pissed about, it's that he's suddenly sprung it on us, as opposed to having it previously declared. you're forgetting that I was on the outskirts of the system when the Black alliance ship started hitting the AU corvette. I was heading in system in full combat mode when this went down. The Liberator saw it happen.

Ok, I guess I deserve that for playing on two hours of sleep. But I still saw it happen. There's no way in hell the cornerians can hide it. The Liberator was going in system full burn, with all sensors active. They may not have made it in time to save the other ships (I'm hooked on a game over at Theforce.net that's why I didn't respond in time and why i've only got two hours of sleep.) but they saw everything.
