Either convince those Entente powers of your worthiness, or successfully challenge our Patriarchy in open warfare," the picket commander replied, transmitting the coordinates to the Five Fangs.

He continued, "If you choose to go to our capitol, obey all commands and make no false moves, or you will be destroyed."

"Under other circumstance we would be more than willing to spill whatever blood need be spilled; our orders will not permit it today. But some day....." The Affront captain gave the equivalent of a smile "Instead we will depart for Five Fangs and do what we can there."

The Affront picket departed on a direct course for Five Fangs, arriving there shortly afterwards.

You would do well to keep your intelligence current:
Long Haul-class Fleet Mover
Field Distance: 150 Km from Hull
Hull Length: 300 Km
Field Strength: 10 TT/Sec
20 CargoSpec Displacers

A behemoth by any measure, the Long Haul carries no weapons or squadrons. It serves one purpose: To wrap it's immense Field around smaller vessels and speed them across the Galaxy at incredible velocities. Often seen augmenting fleets strategic speed or abducting stricken vessels while the attack fleet returns home at their own(Slower) speed, the Long Haul is never alone.
They do indeed have such vessels.

1. The Zodiac convened once again to discuss the Triads. "The Triads are growing bolder; their actions more subtle. They think their actions can go un-noticed by their subtle machinations. The ripples of fate say otherwise. But they don't have to know that. Cancer proposes addressing this issue via our agents in SIS's counterintelligence directorate. We must not risk violating the Oath. And the stars point to someone new on the Crown soon ... someone who would not lightly take the breaking of it."

2. Her Majesty's Secret Intelligence Service had been known by many names before. It's name changed to fit the times; at the moment it was called the SIS. They were amongst the most respected intelligence services in the known universe with vast experience. They were not the best by any means but still extremely competent. And that meant that they had succeeded in penetrating much of the Black Alliance. The massive discontent there also helped; motive was key - and when you were a slave, you had plenty of motive.

Indications showed that something was slowly unifying the Black Alliance -- very slowly. A man, perhaps two men. Trask? Andrews? The former had the guns but the latter had the brains, and neither liked each other. The astrologers and numerologists couldn't really make any decent predictions, either, for this, but the astrologers appeared to have made some minor, if important, counterintelligence gains.

Spooks, astrologers, numerologists, priests, hackers -- it took all kinds to get SIS running well in a magical kingom.

3. Captain Elissa Bane, of RMS Curious Cat, was smiling to herself once again. The finally upgraded their ship's sensory equipment to nearly the equal of her former, beloved command, RMS Archon. Five of her larger turbolasers had been replaced by ion beam arrays, her point-defense fire-control upgraded and plenty of light turbolasers added to augment her firepower. The four additional H-Wing II starfighters were just gravy.

The last vacation in the Kingdom had been good; it let the crew unwind. Too bad the Palace was on lockdown...a tour would have been nice...

4. The Curious Cat made another dropoff, but now it was time to do some more active work. Her captain finally made good on the losses taken when those damned pirates captured her precious ship; it had even better armament now. And a second plasma gun, that was always nice. Oh, yes, and the interdiction-field generator. That lovely generator, which let her ship pull ill-supported convoys out of FTL.

Like that one...

Re: Allies

How commendable it is that you begin a war against a power that has not attacked you. Surely you allies will appreciate you bringing them to war on their behalf.

Of course one has to wonder at whether they realize the cost. You used and betrayed the Azegart to gain foothold in the Aquarian space and then used the Aquarians to help gobble up the Azegart. And how nice of you to maintain your foothold in Aquarian space to protect them after your war devestated their planets and fleets. One can only commend your continued occupation of the planets of those poor souls.

I'm sure they thank you for seeing that they take the right path and attack. It is good that you watch over them so well when it is so little of your concern. And it is only natural that you increase your power at their expense, such is your great stewardship of thier interests.

In a somewhat seedy bar buried inside one of the worlds of the Five Fangs, Johan Ragle leaned back contentedly, albeit always wary, and took a sip of some specialty drink that was from some planet he'd never heard of before. He made it a point to find out that planet when he had a lot of free time, but that time wasn't now.

Several patrons walked past him uneasily, one casting a quick glance in his direction before noticing that he was being watched himself. Ragle smirked slightly; either simply the sight of the old-model, battle-scarred HEV along with his thick and rather ugly exposed "utility" droid arm were frightening people, or his reputation was finally getting around again.

He flipped open a datapad and checked the local datanet for announcements. Some stupid corporate executive had run off with a couple million... nothing new there, probably already captured. A Cornerian bounty on any and all Black Alliance vessels... He rolled his eyes. After his involvement with the crew of RMS Archon, there was no way he was going near the Black Alliance until they'd had a chance to cool their heels. Most of the other mercenaries probably thought the same, too. He tried moving on to the next page, but the listings ended there. So that was it, nothing very promising yet...

He'd probably kick around Five Fangs for a while until he got bored with the place. The Kzin hadn't changed much, as far as he remembered. Still very diplomatically challenged, still prone to negociating with the biggest cannons around... Well, at least they didn't use doublespeak like some of the other nations around.

Ragle made a mental note to try and not step on any tails. The last time he did, it wasn't very pretty...

Subject: Cornerian attacks

Despite Cornerian claims, which bare any basis in facts, any Cornerian ship will be destroyed uopn arrival in Stuartian space. The loss of a ship is simply unacceptable, and since Corneria was acting hostile as of the Azegarte campaign, we have no reason to believe that it wasn't them, jumping at the opportunity of detroying one of our ships.
All nations be warned, that all ships emerging outside Transfer zones will be destroyed.

Greetings,
Jocelyn Gladstone

Deep down in Avalon Prime's atmosphere several freighters were converted for specific new duties. Hulls strengthened, special power plants were added, and an unusual cargo was added. After they were finished, they left for their holding position. Ready to strike should the situation with Corneria get out of hand.

OOC: None of this made public

Muffled voices became quiet when the Grand Cardinal of Dunlap arrived. Then Lord Edward stepped out and onto the platform. All of the nations of the Royal House were there those important from: Tuscany, Hessen, Siena, Navarra, Modena, Emilia, Mantua, Dresdec, Wellspoorkia, Menias the list goes on.

"My dear viscounts, regents, barons, knights welcome to this called counsel. Dark times are ahead for our nations and our friends. The unholy, heathen bastards of the Grand Atheist Alliance are out to destroy glorious socilalists and paramilitants everywhere. Let us destroy these secular demons!" He waits the uproar to die down then continues. "Within in the next twenty four hours I will make my decision and you will also vote on it." The Lord gets off the pulpit while being applauded and he remarks to the Grand Cardinal "Everything is on schedule, war by morning seems likely. Tell the ministers to give homilees about scrafice, defending the Holy Land, and the glory of Crusading." The Cardinal nods with a faithful yes as Lord Edward walks out of the Hagia Sophia.

The Glory-II class cruiser Liberty's Defender emerged from hyperspace and began broadcasting a message to the "Affront" The message asked for an official diplomatic meeting.
The Affront response was swift and direct enough considering the unstable nature of the times. A Bloody Knife MOU, Red Talon, and two escorting Night Spears confronted the KSE interloper.

"A meeting can be arranged. We will however not permit vessels of the enemy to enter any of the home systems any meeting must take place in neutral space or under conditions which protects the integrity of the home systems. Whether you wish to send over your diplomat with us or arrange a meeting some where neutral matters not to us."

All was well.... Then a scientist, wearing the equivalant of a labcoat and wearing the emblem of the psicops floated by.

"But... you are a p12 I ca.."

Another walked over

"Now, I want you to attempt something rather unsual... There is an asteroid at these coordinates in the Aqarius system"
He showed the yougn man the coordinates

The mental savant focused his thoughts and it was so. Readouts quickly showed that the asteroid had impacted the gas giant at a fraction of c...

Thirdfain wrote: "Greetings, Rear Admiral. I am honored to make your acquaintance. I am President Von Braun. With me is Sous-Admiral Mabcrough, in charge of this squadron, and Captain Nobunaga, master of the Ashkaga. The squadron is prepared to follow your lead.

It is a great pleasure to arrive in the Republic."
That short intial greeting between Dellstar and Von Braun was quickly followed by a round of diplomatic greetings and such that served no real purpose but took plenty of time. During this time Captain Alifrat, Dellstars aid contacted Admiral Mabcrough and together they worked out the more mundane deatils of the fleets planned travels.

By the time the two delegates were done with there discussion and said it was time to depart both fleets were ready to do so. Von Braun had said he wished for his visit to be a goodwill tour of the Republic so the first stop would be to the Camelot system in the second didstrict. Cameolot was the third system of the republic in terms of industry and population.

For someone not born in one of the old nations it was hard to visualize the level of industrilization common throughout those powers. It was hoped that a brief stop in Comelot for a tour of the system and it's naval base, as well as a brief tour of common tourist and historical spots on the planet. All of which would be accompanied by many different speeches and ceremonies. You could never say that the UTR didn't know how to put on a show for visitors.

As the combined fleet entered the star system they made a preplanned flyby of the Avalon Star Yards ornitting the systems fourth planet, a large gas giant, they could see the hulls of dozens of escorts and even some small cruisers, as well as a pair of Battlecruisers being constructed simultanesly. The massive yards could be seen to be working full out on military and civilian conuction. On the observation deck of the Mars a small ceremony was being held for President Von Braun as the slowly moved by the yards.

Several commonwealth officers were staring out the massive viewport at the yards. Most of them knew how large the population of the UTR was, but they'd never stopped to think about what all those people meant in terms of industrial capacity. Others were observing the massive rings of overlapping defenses that protected the planet and it's orbital works, the UTRDG absorbed a large percentage of the UTR Governments income and most of it had been spent over the years on fixed defenses. The visiting officers were seeing where the old saying "As stupid as invading the UTR" had come from. Not one of them wanted to imagine the casualties that would be required in a frontal assault.

Most of them had spent the day touring the local planets and habitats and learning about the culture. They'd been impressed by the common uses of advanced technology and space craft as well as the high standard of living. It was different then the martial atmosphere of the commomwealth and most of them considered the terran citizens to be soft, but very rich.

One of Von Brauns aids asked a nearby Terran Navy officer about the level of construction going on in the yards. "You seem to have a lot of military construction going on, I wasn't aware that your governemnt had approved that kind of expansion."

"Well the senate has approved the creation of fifth fleet as well as an expansion of the Defense Guard and of the existing Naval Fleets, but most of the construction is going to the Free Star Navy and the Federation Navy, you have to remember that we're helping to build two seperate navy's as well as the expansion to our own."

The aide though about it and kept looking out at the massive naval yards, "So these are your navy's main ship yards?"

The officer smiled, "No our main yards are around Jupiter in the Sol system, you'll see those when we reach earth, the Proxima yards are slightly bigger and the Draconis and Newhaven yards are of similar size, and there are about half of a dozen other yards that are slightly smaller scattered throughout the republic. They're all being utilized at about full capacity too at this time. Mostly on smaller ships though not too many cruisers or capital ships, a few light carriers here and there."

The officer who'd been speaking then turned and answered a question by another person. As he looked out the window he saw a group of fighter flash by in tight formation. Those terrans sure knew how to put on a show.

The aide's eyes widened in astonishment.

"Your industrial base must be truly fantastic. Tell me, now- I've noticed that none of your crewmen on this vessel are modified to live in low gravity. Do you maintain your military vessels at standard gravity at all times?"

The aide's nearly skeletal build and pitch-black features spoke of a life spent Formed for the zero-gravity and high background radiation Desjardin's orbital colonies.

-: DIPLOMATIC ENCRYPTION IMMACULATE/3 :-

FROM: Senate of the Commonwealth (Desjardins)
TO: All Grand Alliance powers
SUBJ: Outworlds Alliance, Current situation

-::-

Two orders of business must be addressed today. First, the Outworlds Alliance has applied for admission to Grand Alliance.

Every Grand Alliance nation has a vote, yay or nay, as to whether or not they are admitted, victory is by the majority. The Commonwealth votes "Aye."

Secondly, the Commonwealth would like to put the current situation before the rest of the Alliance. It has been proven, to our eyes at least, beyond reasonable doubt that the Cornerians are guilty of the piratical murder of the crews of the Demonstration of Will and an Aquarian diplomatic Corvette. Additionally, via sources we can not, at this time, reveal, we have suspicion that Cornerian intelligence was behind the bombing on Desjardins four months ago.

We of the Commonwealth are interested in stability. It is becoming more clear that the powers of the Entente Cordiale share that interest with us, and more clear that the PRC/HAB unity is intent on shaping the galaxy to their own will. We suggest that the Alliance prepare to make war against the Cornerians, and force them to give heavy reparations for their crimes- put them in their place, so to speak.

What is the stance of the rest of the Alliance? we seek input from our allies.

[Affront Three]

The Glorius Affront War Vessel Kiss the Blade was given a formal christening as things went among the Affront. Mostly it was an excuse for all the involved regiments to get intoxicated and behave badly. In fact out of the drunken bebauchery there were no less the seven honor duels, one of them fatal. Quite a party indeed.

And of course the ship itself was givening a proper christening, the assembled warriors threw whatever libation containers, dishware, and other convinient missles at the red and black painted monomolecular armor of it's hull.

And already two more brothers in battle were taking shape in the vast manufactury.

* * *

The scene was repeated else where as the mass christenings were held for no less than four Bloody Knives, and a dozen Night Lance and Fright Spear LOUs.
