Which is more dangerous to the Borg?
Hmm?

Honestly, while an ISD could do a shitload of damage, the Borg network is well known for it's enormous lack of security. Sticking Windows on a drone would infect the entire collective and fuck them over. It would do far more damage than an ISD.

Numureos Episodes show that a virus usally only manges to take out one ship. The collective abobdons the ship rather than have the virus continue further.kojikun wrote:Honestly, while an ISD could do a shitload of damage, the Borg network is well known for it's enormous lack of security. you could always have them assimilate riff and torg from sluggy instead. then the collective would want to do nothing but drink beer and eyeball scantily clad females all day.

As dangerous as Windows is, I sincerely doubt that it'll run in the Borg Collective. Something about technical specification not withing paramaters or something.

Hah! Windows ME is nothing compared to the utter weapon of mass destruction that was Windows 1.0. It was originally designed towards the end of the cold war to license to the Russians and crash their computer infrastructure. It was deployed to the American public instead to try to recoup expenses.YT300000 wrote:Not Windows XP. Millenium Edition.

Agreed, I have friends whose plans for world domination revolve around armies of unintelligible midgets(for the increased ability to keep secrets and lower target profile of course).

I have seen many many computers running pirated versions of Windows XP and none were any different from original ones. Pirated copies of Windows dont lock up, its all Microsoft propoganda. Infact I had one running for over two years...Solauren wrote:Windows XP
After all, if it's a pirate copy, after 30 days, it will lock up all there computers and the hive mind will crash (grin)
Okay, seriously
Windows XP has more security holes then a Starfleet computer, so if the Borg switched, any half-assed script kiddie could take them out
I have to tell you something everything I wrote above is a lie.

I would be careful about what you say. Also, you are correct that they don't crash. Pirate versions are merely the OEM copies without the copy protection scheme. The only thing Microsoft did to combat this was lock the two registration keys out of Service Pack 1, which was easily defeated using conventional means.evilcat4000 wrote: I have seen many many computers running pirated versions of Windows XP and none were any different from original ones. Really with significantly smaller torp numbers the ISD>> WinXPanarchistbunny wrote:Now that 256 megaton figure is really very generous with Nemesis calcs and the fact that a Tacticle Borg Cube torp did very little damage to an unshielded(techinicly) Voyager, about the same as a Klingon torp did to the E-D in Generations IIRC.anarchistbunny, May 4, 2003 wrote:Lets play the calculations game again! New shield figures from Bean 246 terraton shielding, or 246000000 megatons. Lets give the borg the again generous 256 megaton torps at one per second, and 1000 of em per wave, all fire until all are destroyed, no obstructions in firing. ISD can only fire MTLs, 200 gigatons, 1 every 2 seconds x 50 emplacements. It would take 40 seconds for the ISD to destroy all the cubes, in that time the cubes will do 10,240,000 megatons of damage, or 4.16% to the ISD's shields. So it would take over 25 waves of 1000 cubes to destroy a ISD(assuming once shields are gone, so is the ISD) and the ISD will have taken out over 24,000 cubes.

Actually, I think there's only one "physical" version of the Pro package, and whether it will check your hardware and crap depends on whether you use a corporate key or a small-business key. Since corporations buy in bulk, they can't expect them to have to call M$ for every single copy in a 1000-license deal and such. What they did with the Service Pack was blacklist the most popular pirate key (and I think it didn't check it with HQ or whatever) but all that was needed was distribute a new, unblacklisted keyThe Kernel wrote:I would be careful about what you say.
