Need to make a screen cap.

Post by haas mark »

Ok, so I need to make a screen capture of a particular scene in a video for my job. Unfortunately, the video is in *.mov and I don't know how to convert it to something else. As well, everytime I try to make a cap of it, my proggie (PSP) has this ... hole ... where the image for the video image is. I can move the screen cap around, but the image from the video stays put. What do I do?

I think, if you're using Media Player that is, that pressing CTRL-I does screencaptures.

If you have QuickTime Pro (if you don't, you can always find a QTPro serial code on the net) you can IIRC go to one of the menus and take a screenshot.

The reason for the hole is that the video output creates a special buffer on your screen, and PSP can't read that buffer.

I assumed he might've been using the Quicktime movie plug-in/codec for Media Player, my mistake.

Yep, if you register Quicktime you can export to a sithload of formats, including AVI, bmp, tiff, etc.

If you want to use "printscrn" I think you only get a black rectangle, you have to disable some "acceleration" thing I think.

I hate that. Just open the vid in Quicktime, find the part you want, pause, then go edit, copy.

Go into PSP, and paste. Really simple.

You go to Apple's site, pay for a code, and then go into the QT Control Panel under 'Registration.' However, I think you can still copy the current frame into the clipboard (and then paste it where you wish) via the free QT.

Edit -> Copy

This'll copy the current frame onto the clipboard. This is the only way to do it since the video is displayed in an overlay. ALT Printscreen will not capture the frame.
