also to join the ranks of the uber-pets:

the Vargr from the traveler games -- yes they are in fact geneered, uplifted terran dog stock... but they can be quite formidable when they arent squabbling over who gets to lead the pack. The Aslan also might fit this mold as, although they arent related, they do bear a substantial resemblance to large jungle cats.
