Armed sky Marshals on some UK flights

Post by Dirty Harry »

Probably old news for most of you but I thought it interesting enough to get a mention here.

The story can be found here.[/url]

It seems as if it hasn't been decided yet if these Sky Marshals will be a unit of the police or maybe seperate of it.

So people, what are your thoughts on this.?

That's got to be a good job. See the world, shoot some bad guys, meet some cute flight attendants, that sounds fucking sweet!
The most basic assumption about the world is that it does not contradict itself.

heh, the terrorists would probably only go for the planes with the cute flight attendants on as the marshals will be avoiding these ones in the name of staying focused on their jobs

I take it there's no problem with using firearms on a plane that's in the air? (according to SBS news some British guy in charge of the Pilot's associationg was concerned)

Don't they do something to the bullets that prevents them from going through the plane and spoiling everybody's day? I don't know what they do. Something about teflon, but I don't know how that works. :?

Maybe they could develop some new kind of gun to combat terrorists onboard airplanes.
I have to tell you something everything I wrote above is a lie.

It's not that great a job. Sky marshals are easy to spot. They're the fattest guy on the plane- their entire job is sitting down and eating airline food. They can keep that job

It's a really bad idea to have any armed guards on a plane. For the love of Santa haven't these people watched Con Air?

Since they've already taken steps to secure the cockpits (which is what they should have done in the first place; for God's sake, my old man used to go up and chat with the pilots during trans-atlantic flights) I don't see what the purpose in having an armed officer on board is. I mean, no one's going to be able to takeover a plane using boxcutters again now are they?

When I saw the saw the headline at 1 am this morning, I thought the UK was promoting more members of the Imperial General Staff. CNN really needs to clarify their news.
