*shrug*, I suppose it depends on what sort of stuff you are into. If you aren't all that tied down to the area, I would suggest places like Oregon and Washington as good alternatives (I've lived in both and they are quite cheap and filled with fun stuff and cool people). San Francisco (where I am) is nice, especially with the nightlife and the tremendous amount of gay men, but it is atrociously expensive and I can't say that the job market is all that great at the moment.

I didnt know you lived in SF. Cool, just one more person in the Bay Area.

As for the OP, I've never met anyone on the board in person or talked by phone. At one time, due to some error in the way the board posted maps of where we lived. I though one of my neighbors was IRGCommandoJoe. Hehe, that was a funny thing.

Nah, she's already mine. In a bunch of AIM convos, we've decided that we're as close to boyfriend and girlfriend as two people who've never met in person can be.

I want to call people because there's more to someone then a bunch of type on a computer screen. I want to hear people's voices, it makes seeing their words... better, or something. I dunno. [/end moment of "too tired to type coherent posts"]

*kicks his feet back* Oh great... the gnomes are starting trouble again. Oh well. Yeah, I really wouldn't care if someone were to give me a ring... A warning that a call might be coming in the least would be cool if it were to happen though.

Sure, why not? I don't know how many minutes the card has, but I can do that. As with ST, pm me your # and what times I can call... and if you want advance warning, I'll need your AIM screename or something.

I haven't met anyone here, although I do have that strange feeling that I saw/will be seeing someone in public without me knowing from time to time.

Look, it goes like this:
I have just over two years before I cease to have free flights on BA. I wish to abuse this in those two years.
If I fail to get a studentship in Europe, or don't get offered a place on a dinosaur dig in Utah, then I'll just have to use them to bracket a trip across SDNet homesteads in North America.

Does anyone have a problem with this?

I'd be up for it, though I'm not sure how far we are apart distance wise. I'd like to try to get together with some of the folk on the west coast at some point.

After this years funds? Not likely, this whole US second year thing is working out very expensive, although tis indeed a life experience, there's even word of a South Africa field trip at Spring Break, examining local geology, diamond mines etc, which sounds amazing. Am always up for a UK get-together, but I have to be in the country at the time...

My contact with SD.Netizens and ASVS'ers has been purely electronic. Aside from some pictures I've posted, they have utterly no evidence that I am not a sophisticated learning computer.

Can I ask you an extremely complex mathematical question with dynamic answers based upon dynamic variables, and expect a reply with every concievably answer within a few minutes, if not seconds? :P
